Yesterday we brought you news about the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for the Banjo-Kazooie successor called Yooka-Laylee. Released by the team of former #Rare #developers, the project hit its #funding goal of £175,000 very quickly. Now a full day later, the Kickstarter crushed the target and stretch goals, raising over £1 million, or roughly $1.5 million USD.
Which means, since Playtonic Games hit that goal, Yooka-Laylee will be released on the same day for Linux, Mac, Windows PC, PS4, Xbox One and Wii U!

“Obviously we would like to offer our sincere thanks to everyone who has backed the project so far. Our intention from the beginning was to use Kickstarter as a means to improve Yooka-Laylee, and you’ve helped us shape it into one fine specimen. ,” Playtonic Games said in a Kickstarter update.
Once the Kickstarter page went live, backers started throwing money at the projectright away, leaving zero doubt as to whether the final goal would be met. “Backers can be assured that the Playtonic team will deliver a complete and satisfying game package. However, given the opportunity and additional resources required, we have a list of additional ‘dream’ extras we’d love to incorporate.”
The Yooka-Laylee campaign still has 45 days left to go, and as of press time, 31,228 backers have pledged £1,095,766. So it looks like we could have another Kickstarter record similar to Mighty No. 9, so get your pledges in.
