The video is described on the game’s Kickstarter page as “early prototype footage that’s not representative of Areal’s final quality.” In it we see a man trekking through the dark woods amidst a backdrop of cricket chirping and what sounds like Morse code. Later on we see the heat signature of predatory animals before a poison gas sweeps across the forest causing the man to choke.
Areal was first announced in June with the release of its $50,000 Kickstarter campaign. The open-world title, which is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, Linux, Mac and Windows PC, depicts a post-apocalyptic world deteriorating because of a mysterious mineral called Metamorphite. The result of a meteor strike, it “eventually spreads, corrupts and infects the whole world,” Areal’s Kickstarter description reads.
So far the Kickstarter campaign is still shy of its funding goal. As of press time, the campaign has reached $37,195 with six days to go.
