Astroneer, an upcoming game for Linux, Mac and Windows PC. While in development by System Era Softworks, #gameplay is taking players into a 25th century gold rush where they #explore the frontiers of outer space. So players risk their lives and resources in harsh environments for the chance of striking it rich. Taking #resources from planets, asteroids, and moons can be up for trade. So this is available with friends using it to craft new tools, vehicles, and modules. While environments are procedurally generated in a uniquely rendered voxel engine. Gameplay features a texture-less aesthetic that allows players to deform and shape the terrain as though it were made of Play-Doh.
Astroneer Linux Release:
“Hey Todd!
Sorry that [Press Kit listing Linux] was a mistake on our part and should have been omitted a bit ago. (I’ll be sure to updated that asap.)
Linux (and Mac) are two platforms that we plan on supporting, but unfortunately, we couldn’t get it done in time for our initial launch.”
Linux support will happen, but it will need to be a bit later than we expected. Hopefully early next year.
Astroneer Features:
- Explore multitudes of procedural worlds.
- Shape completely malleable terrain. Dig to the center of the earth, or forge mountains.
- Craft vehicles and discover resources to reach ever further in the galaxy.
- Survive in ever more harsh and rewarding environments.
- Play with friends in online or local multiplayer.
Astroneer – Developer Let’s Play #2
Astroneer will be available on Steam this week. Windows PC support will be primary until game development is closer to a full release. Leaving Linux and Mac support for later.
So for some people, this might not be a huge loss. As quite a few gamers are not very fond of Early Access titles. Let alone those games without Linux support at or around release.
