Avorion sandbox announces the coming launch on Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Thanks to a recent announcement from developer Boxelware. The games currently in Early Access, available on Humble Store and Steam.
Avorion if you do not know is a procedural co-op space sandbox. Where you can build your own space ships out of dynamically scalable blocks. Sort of like Minecraft for space ships. While you fight epic space battles and explore. Players also have to mine, trade, and wage wars. Then build your own empire to save your galaxy. Hopefully avoid being torn apart by an unknown enemy.
Now it seems we have good news going forward. The full release for Avorion is due on March 9th, 2020. So that means sometime soon we will have the full launch of the games. As stated in the Steam announcement. Bringing with it a new ship generator. One that’s also going to be moddable.
We now settled on a time frame when we’re planning to leave Early Access – Q1 2020! While it’s really hard to pick an arbitrary point where we you can declare a sandbox game as “finished”, Avorion is nearing its feature completion in one way in particular: As the vision I had of it when I first imagined it.
But don’t worry! If you’re thinking that now that’s it with Avorion, that we’re done, then you couldn’t be more wrong! We love working on Avorion and we love the community that formed around the game.
We’re going to actively support the game with free updates and some DLCs for at least 2 years after release. Depending on how well it goes for us financially, it might be longer.
