Axis and Allies Online announced in Linux, Mac and Windows games. Thanks to developer Beamdog who are creating their adaptation of the classic board game. Which is coming to Steam Early Access first.
“Growing up, I had two favourite title. Dungeons & Dragons and Axis and Allies Online. As a long-time Axis and Allies player. I’m excited to be able to recreate this classic title for other avid fans. And for new online audiences,” said Trent Oster, Beamdog CEO. “Axis and Allies Online captures the tactics. And friendly rivalry of the board game. With a few key differences. There’s no setup or cleanup. So you can’t flip the table when you’re losing.”

So due note, gameplay adapts rules from Axis & Allies: 1942 Second Edition. The turn based strategy board game. Where players take on World War II powers. So they can play either side of the conflict. The Allied forces of United Kingdom. Also the United States and the Soviet Union. While some may play the Axis powers of Germany and Japan.
“We know there is an appetite for an online version of Axis and Allies within the tabletop community. Not necessarily to replace the original. But as a way to play when your gaming group can’t meet up. Or when you don’t have time to commit to a full title.” Oster continued, “Our online version is a great way for new players to discover the fun of this classic title.”
Players act as one or more of the world powers. Since you can play five players at time. Multiplayer gameplay can include both AI and human players. Players also have the option to play on their own against AI. With asynchronous play. So you can take turns your own time. While watching opponent’s moves in observer mode.
Oster says Beamdog’s adaptation successfully captures the spirit the original title. “Axis and Allies Online is a loyal implementation of the 1942 Second Edition rules. We love the original. And we’re incredibly excited to bring that experience to the desktop,” said Trent Oster. Beyond its classic gameplay. Axis and Allies Online offers interactive maps, combat summaries, and dramatic music and sound effects.
Also note, Axis and Allies Online will release in Steam Early Access. Priced at $19.99 USD. While playable on Linux, Mac and Windows. There is no release date yet. So for further details, check out the official website.
