Boundary is a space tactical combat to see support for Linux and Windows PC. According to Chinese independent developer, Surgical Scalpels. The game is a multiplayer shooter in space coming to Steam.

This is a near future multiplayer shooter. Boundary is heading to Windows PC and PlayStation 4. Courtesy of its new publisher deal with Huya. With a publisher now backing the remaining development and launch. The game will be looking to line up a Q1 2020 release date on Windows PC. But the developer is also looking to bring the game to Linux.

Linux Support:

At the moment, Linux is under consideration. We love to reach as many gamers as possible. And don’t wanna leave anyone behind.

Since Unreal Engine 4 is being used for development (now UE4.22.3). This means that Boundary should also work via Proton. But there is definitely some hope for Linux here. Since Surgical Scalpels wants to reach as many gamers as possible. And really, this is a unique style of space shooter. The ONLY setback right now, there is no Steam page. Therefore, there is no way to Wishlist the game. And their website is not in English. But we do have the trailer.

Gameplay and New Features:

Since there are a whole host of customization options for players. Boundary aims to provide a tailor made approach to loadouts. For both space suits and tactical space warfare. Likewise, weapons range from machine pistols to converted assault rifles. Plus more powerful sniper rifles. All of which use a modular upgrade system. So you can mix and match your own preferences.
Players can also customize individual weapons. With a huge range of available gear. Such as including optical sights, suppressors, stocks, barrels and foregrips.

Aside from the traditional Deathmatch and Free For All modes. Boundary will also include Facility Capture and Orbital Purge game modes. Multiplayer maps aim to provide a mixture of space installments. But also include the wreck strewn debris field of a Space Elevator. This will revealed later this year. Additional features will also be revealed in the coming months.

Boundary is currently prepping for a Q1 2020 release. Which will release for Windows PC, then Linux support. Of course this all depends on development going forward. But this definitely a unique take on the shooter genre.
