Double Fine Production’s second half of its #crowdfunded #adventure game, Broken Age, is finally scheduled for a #release in early 2015. Producer Greg Rice confirmed the game’s status in an update on the company’s official forums.
That means, as you may have guessed based on recent updates and documentary episodes, the Act 2 ship that will deliver the complete adventure is now looking like it will be early next year.
The game is looking really good and the team is working super fast, but we just gotta give the game the time it needs to really deliver on everything we’re hoping it will be.
For those who don’t remember, Broken Age was split up into two parts when Double Fine ran into financial problems with the $3 million it made through Kickstarter. To make up for the funds, Double Fine put the first half up on Steam Early Access earlier this year to secure funding for the second half.
Not only did the plan work, earning Double Fine the money to finish the project, Broken Age also became a successful hit, pulling in plenty of praise as one of 2014′s best indie titles. Rice went on to say that most of the main elements have been finished, leaving only the grunt work remaining before launch.
“Now that we have all the writing and design finalized and VO recorded, the remainder of development is much easier to estimate, so the production team is currently working to nail down a new schedule for finaling [sic] the game that we can use as a goal for the team and also share with you.”
Broken Age can be picked up through Steam sale for $15. Just remember the more that is made, the quicker Double Fine can bring part two across the finish line.
