A special Christmas Truce event begins in authentic WW1 FPS games Verdun now. Since players on Steam can throw snowballs, play football, and explore a Christmas truce map. One full of details and scenes inspired by real-life accounts of the event.
The event will run until January 5th. Furthermore, both Verdun and Tannenberg are 70% off on Steam. While making this a great time to grab Verdun to join the truce. The event is based on the well-known historic Christmas Truce from WW1 in 1914. Just 5 months after the start of the conflict, the first Christmas of WW1 came around. Leadership on both sides were reconsidering their strategies following a stalemate. Also, the indecisive result of the First Battle of Ypres. As a result of the lull in hostilities, soldiers in parts of the front started to cross the trenches in the week leading up to Christmas to exchange seasonal greetings, gifts, and talk. In a couple of areas, soldiers from both sides ventured into No Man’s Land on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. All due to exchange gifts of food and souvenirs. There were joint burials and prisoner swaps, but they also had some fun. People played football and sang carols from their countries.

While taking a break from the fighting: throw snowballs, play football (a.k.a. soccer), relax at the bonfire, and send Christmas Cards. Doing so from in-game to friends and family by email or social media! If they stay until the end of the round they can earn a medal for participating in the Truce.
