Darksburg co-op roguelite and Linux native support update beside Windows PC. According to recent details from developer Shiro Games. Which is currently still doing well via Steam Early Access.

Darksburg the new fast paced cooperative top down action title from Shiro Games. Releasing on Steam Early Access back on February 12th. The renowned French indie studio is beyond the successful Northgard. Which is available for Linux, Mac and Windows PC. As well as the Evoland games as well.

So seeing a game like Darksburg in Early Access we hope for support. Since their last release has a native Linux build. Then we should expect the same for the current build. But according to the recent Steam Discussion comment. The developers are “keeping this [Linux] in mind.” Not quite the same as our original reply via email.

Linux Native Support Update:

So currently, we don’t have any firm plans on a Linux port of Darksburg. For this period (early access), our attention is purely on the Windows version. And ensuring that the game releases as content complete. Bug free and as high a quality as possible before we begin to explore other platforms.

We are getting a few inquiries regarding potentially bringing the game to Linux. And we are not ruling out the possibility whatsoever. But at this time it’s not something we are committing to. Until we are content with the overall game. And feel that we have built a sizeable enough community to venture outside of the Windows platform.

So make of this what you will. Darksburg is due to remain in Early Access for roughly 6 to 12 months. And reading the above statement, it would appear that a full release is due ahead of support. Not that this should be a surprise. Early Access game development usually focuses on one platform. Plus Shiro Games are using their own in-house engine.

Darksburg co-op roguelite Early Access Trailer

In Darksburg, up to four players team up to rid the titular medieval town of the zombies. While you try to survive the undead horde. There are various colourful characters with special powers and unlockable abilities. All at the player’s disposal, including Varag. Who escaped wolfman and humankind’s (part-time) best friend. Maybe the viciously compassionate Sister Abigail. Quick reflexes and expert use of the survivors’ distinctive attacks. As well as their skills to complete each atmospheric, objective based map.

Offering the best of challenging, fast paced co-op teamplay. Players in Darksburg also face off against the devious Revenants. The powerful zombie characters matching the Survivors in their destructive attacks. Either controlled by the AI or other humans in Versus mode. These Revenants will try their darndest to ambush our heroic band of misfits. Then thwart them in their quest for safety. Threading their way through the once scenic Darksburg. Since the Survivors have to overcome various obstacles. Then manage a limited supply of resources. And make expert use of their attacks and skills. Hoping to defeat monstrous bosses that stand in the player’s way.

Early Access contains:

  • Four playable hot-blooded Survivors and four playable zombie Revenants.
  • Five maps covering all the blood-soaked parts of the once peaceful, medieval town of Darksburg divided across three distinct environments: the
  • ruined Harbour, the Marketplace, and the Faubourg district.
  • All the game modes, including the coop against AI, as well as the PvP mode which sees Revenants stopping the Survivors escaping town and the infamous Last Stand mode.
  • A wide range of abilities, combos, and perks are available to each character, allowing players to focus on DPS or build the ultimate tank

Darksburg co-op roguelite is available on Steam Early Access. Priced at $19.99 USD. With support for Windows PC, and hopefully Linux support coming later. So Wishlist the game on Steam.
