Dying Light 2, a bold sequel to the best-selling open world phenomenon, but have a Linux support update. Reaching out to Techland, seeing what the plans are since the announcement.
Linux support plans update:
“Regarding the Linux support, I am afraid it is too early to give the definitive answer yet as our development team is working hard on Dying Light 2. Confirmed platforms are Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, but knowing that we have devoted Dying Light community on Linux, this version is definitely in their consideration.”
So this is a direct email reply from Techland. Which seems to be a blanket statement for the Linux community.
Which is ironic, since know one has posted news regarding Linux support.
That being said, Linux is “definitely in their consideration.” So this at least shows hope. And considering the success of the original release. I’m keen to play Dying Light 2, with plans on being and epic sequel.
The unique vision of the post-apocalyptic experience. Will also bring everything players would expect from a new, radically improved installment in their favorite series. Including groundbreaking innovations:
“We are very close to our community, and we’ve clearly heard their requests for the new game. I know we kept them waiting, so I’m more than excited to finally announce: Dying Light 2 is coming” – said Pawel Marchewka, Techland CEO. “Dying Light 2 will be a truly bold sequel.
Dying Light 2 was announced on-stage by acclaimed game writer Chris Avellone. Which is impressive to see, since the narrative designer for the game and co-author of its unique setting of the Modern Dark Ages. The reveal was accompanied by the Announcement Trailer:

Dying Light 2 is set to release on Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. While the combat looks quite similar. Graphically the game seems to have more detail. Which is powered by the C-Engine. A new generation of Techland’s in-house technology for open-world action-adventure and action-RPG games. Linux support is still unknown at this time. But I will admit, I would love a native build.
Since the new features and the way you as the character impact the story is impressive. This really puts the player in the drivers seat.
So it will be interesting to see what logical and crazy choices are available.
Since this is a bold sequel to the open-world phenomenon. Dying Light 2 also brings to life a unique post-apocalyptic vision of the Modern Dark Ages – a brutal, bleak and unforgiving reality where you are as likely to perish at the hand of a human as you are by the infected.
In this exhausted world, your quick thinking, exceptional parkour abilities and brutal combat skills are the only things that let you dive into darkness and emerge alive. Make morally grey decisions and witness how they impact the world at multiple levels, shape the transformation of the City, and ultimately decide its fate.
