Eden Falling is an upcoming post apocalyptic RPG game that needs your support for Linux alongside Windows PC. Thanks to a recent email from developer Razor Edge Games. Which is due to release on Steam Early Access in 2020.
Eden Falling is a post apocalyptic RPG. Where you experience a unique take on an old genre. While stepping out from the wastelands of a ruined future Earth. Razor Edge Games announces its first title. The vast third person and also cinematic roleplaying game, Eden Falling.
Taking place in the South West territory of what remains of North America. The sprawling map also crosses from Mexico up through Utah. So there are 1,000’s of areas to explore. As a result, you will join different Factions in the emerging civilization. Then undertake branching Contracts to strengthen bonds and gain experience. Also similar to the tradition of tabletop gaming. Eden Falling is planning to enter Steam Early Access in 2020. Therefore, I reached out regarding Linux support. Since gameplay seems to have a Metro series vibe to it. Here’s what Razor Edge had to say.
We are using the Unity game engine. With a release in Windows planned along with Xbox. A Linux release is possible depending on the public request for it.
Since Unity 3D is being used for Eden Falling development. This is a good sign to a very likely port. But again this also depends on community support. And the developers are rather liberal in their email reply. Which is a good sign, since the release is coming later in 2020. So make sure to share that Tux Love in the Discussion post. Also, be sure to Wishlist on Steam.
Eden Falling In-Engine Cinematic
Entering Eden Falling, players face a world in ruins. Sixty-two years after Asteroid 410777 strikes the Earth. While the alien spores it carried have wiped out civilization. In the After Fall, what little remains of humanity splits into tribe like groups. All while trying to survive, fighting over and control for what remains. So customize your character’s appearance, stats, skills and equipment. Then begin the journey in this wasteland. A journey that extends far beyond yourselves. With mechanics drawing from tabletop gaming. Character age can evolve over years in-game. Therefore be sure to gain experience and skills. But also note that you lose others abilities, like strength and speed, as they age. But characters’ legacies don’t end if they retire or die in Eden Falling. Even building a family or traveling with Companions. This is where players can pass on their skills to continue their story.
The expanse of the South West Territory is open for players to explore. All full of over 3,000 areas to explore that are stuffed with remains from the past. Each environment is generated when it is first encountered. But is locked as a unique location for the host and any friends in game. So any changes become a permanent feature of that unique map. This world is full of seven Factions to build relationships with. Each with their own personalities and goals. Player’s cannot remain neutral between these groups. So alliances are a necessary evil to survive in Eden Falling. You will have to contend with Marauders and other dangers. But the weight of opinion can be difficult to manage. Since taking a Contract from one Faction, such as the Texas Star. This is likely to damage the standing with another faction.

- Single and multiplayer CRPG developed in the traditions of tabletop gaming
- No class system offers complete freedom to customise characters
- Persistent world in Eden Falling. Characters will change and age with time
