Gripper story-driven action game is just a YES away from Linux support with Windows PC. Thanks to further details from developer Heart Core. Which is due to make its way onto Steam, GOG, and Humble Store.

Indie developer Heart Core recently attended GamesCom Asia to showcase their upcoming cyber bike boss rush game, Gripper. This is a story-driven action game with boss fights on wheels. Where you can tear your enemies apart with a grappling hook. Also rip out their metal hearts to gain abilities. Since you are due to rescue your family and uncover the secrets of the collapsing world.

While attending GamesCom Asia, one of the largest industry events in Asia with over 3,000 industry veterans. As a result, Gripper caught the attention of Shuhei Yoshida. Who also happens to be the former president of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Taking to Twitter, Shuhei Yoshida expressed how much he enjoyed playing the game. And he “Hopes to play it again when it develops further”.

To top things off, we are also on the cusp of Linux support too.

The engine is Unreal Engine 4.27. If Linux community wants the game, we can do it for you.

Thansk to a Heart Core email, the Gripper developer is right on the brink of agreeing to Linux support. But just needs a bit of incentive from the community to offer a native build. Just a simple “yes” is all we need, the more the better on the Steam Forum post.

Gripper plays out in a dystopian world plagued with mystery and loss. Players take the role of None, a cyber bike riding, grapple hook-wielding hero on a mission to find and save his loved ones. Progressing through the post-apocalyptic landscapes will see None have to make vital story choices. While working through torturous terrain and face off against some ferocious foes.

The goal of every boss fight; slay your foe and rip out their heart. Every enemy’s heart will provide None with a memory of a loved one. As well as a new ability that is due to equip for the cyber bike. Players can build their dream cyber bike killing machine. Doing so by increasing the power of the grapple hook. This includes mounting a rail gun on the back or deploying enemy seeking drones.

Features:

  • Boss fights on wheels. Ride, slide, and dodge to master Gripper’s unique movement and combat mechanics. Crush enemies, rip out their weapons, and use them against them. Build the perfect bike, from energy boosters to spawnable drones, mines, and gadgets.
  • Grip and Rip. Control the battlefield with the bike’s hook. Use it to grip the setting, grab and throw explosives or even rip enemies apart. All while Gripper tests players to find unique ways to slay each bosses.
  • Cinematic story-driven action. None’s story is one of mystery and loss. Traverse the dystopian cyber landscapes in search of answers to your past. Help None make vital choices. Every answer uncovered is another loved one put at risk, so go forth and save None’s family.
  • Progression and customization. Kill. Upgrade. Repeat. Each grueling encounter will reward players with a new special ability, lethal gadgets, and sometimes rare skins. Players can customize the Gripper experience to play and look how they want.

Gripper story-driven action game will launch onto Steam, GOG, and Humble Store in Early 2023. Doing so on Windows PC, but we are also right on the cusp of native Linux support. It’s just a YES away on the Steam Forum post. You can do it.
