Havok(TM) Brings Autodesk Gameware Technology to Vision Engine

Agreement Brings Extensive New Features and Capabilities to Havok Vision Engine Users

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov 07, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Havok(TM), a premier provider of interactive software solutions for the games and entertainment industry, today announces a license agreement with Autodesk, Inc. The agreement enables Havok to offer a new version of the Havok Vision Engine that integrates the full functionality of Autodesk(R) Scaleform(R) and Autodesk(R) Beast(TM) middleware.

The integration of Scaleform and Beast with Havok’s Vision Engine enhances its current flexible toolset with new user interface (UI) and global illumination functionalities. Embedding the latest release of Autodesk Scaleform middleware and Autodesk Scaleform Input Method Editor (IME) extends the Havok Vision Engine functionality to allow for the creation of powerful Flash 10 and ActionScript(R) 3.0 based user interfaces. Scaleform also provides extensive multi-language chat capabilities. Coupled with the realistic lighting capabilities offered in Beast middleware, these additions to the Havok Vision Engine enhance the powerful and customizable platform that enables teams of all sizes to deliver compelling content and game experiences across multiple devices and operating systems.

“We are delighted to announce this license arrangement,” said David Coghlan, Managing Director of Havok. “We have seen extensive use of Scaleform and Beast across our Vision Engine clients and a strong interest in a tighter integration between our technologies. This Vision Engine bundle, which also includes Havok Physics and Havok AI, has become our standard Vision offering, extending the reach of both companies’ technologies across new geographies and market segments.”

“Havok and Autodesk have worked closely together for many years and we are very excited about the opportunity to have Scaleform and Beast included as a core element in Havok’s well-respected technology portfolio,” said Marc Stevens, Autodesk Vice President, Games. “We are confident that this integration can provide tremendous value for Havok and Autodesk customers.”

This enhanced version of the Havok Vision Engine, featuring a seamless integration of Scaleform and Beast middleware, is now available for evaluation.
