There are thousands of Kickstarter projects asking for your money, and it can be difficult to decide to which ones you should donate. You can trust us to find the best projects we think are worthy of your attention and support.
What is 7 Days to Die?
7 Days to Die is an “open world, voxel-based, sandbox game that is a unique mash-up of first person shooter, survival horror, tower defense and role playing games combining combat, crafting, looting, mining, exploration, and character growth.”
In the near future a third world war leaves the Earth in ruins. Nobody knows for sure if it was the radiation, the biochemical weapons, or an act of God, but an unknown virus soon transforms the surviving humans into an army of the animated dead.
You play a survivor trapped in the savage zombie infested world of Navezgane County, Arizona—one of the last true Eden’s on Earth. Ironically, Navezgane means “Killer of Monsters” to the Apache who have inhabited the land for centuries, and that’s pretty much what you’ll do as you fight to survive and search for the truth behind what really happened.
Why should you support 7 Days to Die?
What I like most about 7 Days to Die are the many different things you can do in the game. Most zombie games put the focus on killing zombies and looting gear, and that’s it. Being able to go out in the world and collect resources to make traps to defend your home or a garden to grow food to eat makes surviving in a post-apocalyptic world more interesting and engaging. Crafting seems to be an important part; every item has durability, and being able to repair and improve your tools is essential to staying alive.
Combat is varied, offering more weapons than just guns: melee weapons, traps, landmines, motorized tools such as chainsaws, auto-turrets and more. If there are too many zombies in your way, you can even sneak past them and, with the right items, won’t have to rely on luck to remain undetected. You’ll be able to find or craft “sight, sound or smell deterrents and attractor recipes and items” to encourage the zombies to look at anything other than you.
With the experience you get by killing zombies you’ll be able to gain and improve abilities to be a Bruiser, Gun Nut, Gadget Man, Chemist, or Stealth Agent. If you improve your melee skills, not only will you get better at using melee weapons, but you’ll also be able to craft better melee weapons and learn finishing moves.
You won’t have to face the zombies alone; there are solo, cooperative, and multiplayer modes where you can be a human, bandit or zombie. You can even build a world with your own rules and play with friends.
7 Days to Die seems to be a combination of zombie hunting and Minecraft-style crafting and building, which I think could be a lot of fun. The video below gives many more details, and I think that after watching it you’ll be as interested in seeing this Kickstarter project succeed as I am.
