Assetto Corsa Competizione reveal and shows hope

assetto corsa competizione reveal and shows hope for linux

Assetto Corsa Competizione has a reveal for Windows, but there seems to be hope for Linux. So we reached out to developer Kunos Simulazioni about the racing simulation with some decent news.

So first off, Kunos Simulazioni reveals the release date of Assetto Corsa Competizione. This is the new official Blancpain GT Series game published by 505 Games. The game will be accessible on Windows via Steam’s Early Access program starting Wednesday, September 12, 2018.

Linux Support:

“The only version actually in development is Steam for Windows PC. Once we finish this version of the game we’ll be able to make some evaluation on porting to different systems.”

Also due note, Unreal Engine 4 is being used for development. Which is stated in the games FAQ. Definitely some positive news.
So this Assetto Corsa Competizione detail is only a reveal. Then we have the Early Access phase until early 2019.

Therefore it is a bit early to get a full confirmation. But there is hope and the reveal trailer below is certainly inspiring. While the previous Assetto Corsa has decent reviews on Steam.

Assetto Corsa Competizione – Early Access Reveal (Windows, not Linux)

In his speech, Marco Massarutto, co-founder and brand & product manager of Kunos Simulazioni. Introduces some of the features coming to Assetto Corsa Competizione. Offering an extraordinary level of simulation quality. Since this allows players to experience the unique atmosphere of this GT3 Series. The game also features official drivers, teams, and all cars & circuits. Along with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail. Since game design will taking full advantage of Unreal Engine 4.

Assetto Corsa Competizione will ensure the highest quality rendering. Including photorealistic weather conditions and graphics to reach a new standard in immersion racing. Motion capture technology will create the animations of mechanics. So drivers will have an even more realistic fashion and guarantee a high level of player engagement. While in races, pit stops and driver changes.

Following the Early Access launch in September. Assetto Corsa Competizione will receive monthly expansion updates.
Since these will introduce new cars, tracks and features until the final release of the game in early 2019. The final version of the game will also offer a wide selection of difficulty settings. So this what has my attention for Linux support.

There is also going to be a deep and efficient rating system. One that is able to offer the perfect multiplayer challenge for any type of driver. Since this will range from newbies to skilled professionals.
Kunos also reveal they will optimise the game for competitive players. With full racing classes and special events. Along with the option to face the toughest challenge. Also a full 24-hour race, with driver swaps in both single and multiplayer modes.

Assetto Corsa Competizione at least has a release date reveal for Windows on Steam and Humble Store. But here’s hoping we see Linux support at some point going forward.
