BATTLETECH now closer to a release date

battletech release date and new story trailer for linux mac windows games

BATTLETECH is available now on both Mac and Windows, but there is news regarding Linux. Paradox Interactive and Harebrained Schemes announce details about the release. Since I am one of those people waiting patiently.

Linux gets closer to a release date:

So this bit of news come directly from the news post on Steam. It seems there are some hiccups regarding the port. Here is the official word:

“The next items on our roadmap are Linux and localized versions of the game. We’re making good progress on Linux and hope to have more specifics to share soon. Unfortunately, we hit some unexpected setbacks on localization, and localized versions of the game (German, French, and Russian) will take longer than we previously thought. We’re actively working through it and bringing more people onto the effort, as it’s a top priority for the studio. We’ll update you on Linux and localized version release dates as soon as we have them.”

BATTLETECH | Release Trailer (Windows, Mac and soon Linux)

Honestly, I think development is much closer to a Linux release. But still, we do not have a release date yet. And quite honestly, the fact Harebrained Schemes is smart. That way ensuring a positive launch while continuing to fix bugs and such.

So for those who do not know, BATTLETECH is the development of Harebrained Schemes. The studio that is also responsible for the Shadowrun Returns series. BATTLETECH is the next generation of turn-based tactical ‘Mech combat. And it’s really impressive. Sorry I couldn’t help it, but it’s very good.

The year is 3025 and the galaxy is stuck in a cycle of perpetual war. All the fight by noble houses with enormous, mechanical combat vehicles called BattleMechs. Take command of your own mercenary outfit of ‘Mechs and the MechWarriors that pilot them. Since they are all struggling to stay afloat, you find yourself drawn into a brutal interstellar civil war.

Upgrade your starfaring base of operations, negotiate mercenary contracts with feudal lords. Then repair, maintain, and customize your stable of aging BattleMechs. All in the service of executing devastating combat tactics to defeat your enemies on the battlefield.

Since BATTLETECH, the first turn-based tactical BATTLETECH / MechWarrior PC game in over 20 years. This of course is possible thanks to the support of 55,000+ Kickstarter backers.

BATTLETECH is available on Windows and Mac for the retail price of $39.99 USD. While Linux support is coming, we do not have an official release date yet. The game is available on Paradox PlazaSteamGOG, and Humble Store.
