Development is coming along well for Liege a year after Kickstarter

After backing so many Kickstarter #games over the last year that we forgot about quite a few. Sadly, one we payed very little attention to is exactly the kind of game quite a few of our readers are looking for these days: a little JRPG inspired project called Liege.

Liege went into production after #indiedeveloper John Rhee managed to raise $81,000 through Kickstarter, far surpassing his original requested $15,000. A few high-profile Kickstarter campaigns like Hyper Light Drifter, Mighty No. 9, and Darkest Dungeon caused Liege to tumble into the back recesses of my memory. However, a new alpha gameplay video has it charging to the forefront once again.

Rhee shows off his game’s new graphical design and gameplay ideas in this trailer released in an update on the Kickstarter website. Nothing flashy or amazing, but again, that’s just what people are looking for these days. A simple portable game with an original battle mechanic that looks more in line with my those old-school days than anything else.

If John Rhee has the world-building and storytelling chops to match Konami’s, we know his character art seems to suggest so.

To date, Liege remains my biggest Kickstarter donation at $25 for the entire planned trilogy, and so far, Rhee makes me believe my money has been well spent. Check it out if you haven’t yet on the Kickstarter site of Rhee’s own Coda Games’ website.

Liege will be released for Windows PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Wii U, PC, iOS, and Android whenever development wraps up.
