Development Team for Crytek UK walk out over incomplete pay

A large number of staff at Crytek UK, the independent game developer behind Xbox One exclusive Ryse: Son of Rome and the popular franchise #Crysis, are no longer turning up to work due to #disputes over not being paid the full wage amounts owed to them, it has been rumoured.

According to sources speaking to Kotaku, its estimated that 100 members of staff walked out from the Crytek UK office, with a number of them filing formal grievance letters on their way out. Crytek has publicly denied any financial difficulties regardless of reported late or incomplete paychecks and continuously losing staff over the past months. It was also reported last week that a sequel to Ryse: Son of Rome was in fact cancelled after a dispute between Crytek and Microsoft over the ownership rights of the franchise.

The question that remains now, is how will this effect Homefront: The Revolution? Due to be published by Deep Silver, Homefront: The Revolution is currently being developed at Crytek UK and set for release sometime next year. According to sources, Crytek and Deep Silver are currently in talks to decide what will happen next with Homefront, with Crytek employees hoping Deep Silver will purchase the studio and continue work on the title.

“They have invested a lot in Homefront and will want to protect their investment,” said one source.

“Rumor around the studio is that Crytek and Homefront publisher Deep Silver are currently negotiating over what will happen next. Employees at Crytek UK, which is based in Nottingham, are hoping that Deep Silver will purchase the studio and continue funding development of Homefront: The Revolution, according to two people connected to the company”

We’ll bring you more as soon as we get more information.
