Free Torrent as Game Developers Pirate Own Game

Kotaku offers a mildly amusing story about a game development studio that decided to pirate their own game. Vitali Kirpu and Alex Poysky, the developers behind Pixel Piracy, have “pirated” a copy of their own game, and provided a #free #torrent #download on their site.

“We aren’t idiots, we aren’t high,” they write on the game’s site. “We believe that anyone who wants to pirate our game will do so anyways, and feel it’s a much safer bet to offer those people the official link to our game in hopes that they keep their computer’s virus free.”

And of course, the duo think that some of the people that might download it for free might have a heart and actually become paying customers. It also makes sense given that the game is about piracy.

You can check out their message to pirates. They also appreciate your help and want to extend a “Thank you all!” on Steam Greenlight.
