the occupation first-person thriller coming to linux mac windows games on steam 2018

The Occupation is a first-person, investigative thriller for Linux, Mac and Windows. The games a fixed time, sim set in North-West England on October 24, 1987. Coming to Steam and Humble Store in Q2 2018, running on Unreal Engine 4.

So you take on a reporter, tasked with investigating an attack. One that has left 23 dead. Also now the catalyst for the creation of The Union Act. A controversial law that threatens the civil liberties of the British population. So the events happen in real-time over the course of four hours. Therefore you must make decisions. All based on the evidence surrounding you. Welcome to the The Occupation.

So you determine the outcome of the act and the future of the country. Is the cost of an extreme action outweighed by the cause? Or that of the greater good? You are the reporter. You decide the narrative.

The Occupation – Announce Trailer (Linux, Mac, Windows)

The Occupation‘s narrative has my attention. The art style resembles that of Bioshock Infinite, and the story, Firewatch.
So the gameplay itself should be interesting. With that four hour time span and having to use what details are available to you. Wow, the potential for some intrigue is definitely present.

Also, I’m eager to see how the game interaction plays out. Typically any sort of investigative thriller has the player hiding. Amidst the search for clues in The Occupation. Doing so in a somewhat hand-held narrative driven environment. Rather than leaving you to your own freedom to explore, such as Black Mirror. Which can also make the games experience somewhat bland. So there is a give and take.

White Paper released its first title, Ether One, in March 2014. This games only available on Windows. Yet still met with critical and popular acclaim. Ether One was nominated for a Develop award for ‘Use of Narrative.’ Also a Finalist at Indiecade 2014. Therefore my eyes are on The Occupation when it debuts on Steam in 2018.

The games Steam and Humble release:

Also, we are waiting on further confirmation of a day-one Linux release. Since the games product page on Steam and Humble Store only show Windows support. While publisher Humble state that Linux will have support.
