Project Winter online multiplayer native support

project winter online multiplayer linux support

Project Winter is online-multiplayer game for Windows, but we have news of Linux support. While Other Ocean Interactive confirmed its online-multiplayer game of teamwork and betrayal. Releasing in Early Access on February 7, 2019.

Project Winter is an 8-person, multiplayer game focusing on social deception and survival. While players randomly assign their role of either Traitor or Survivor.
So you must gather resources, repair structures, and brave the wilderness together. Just beware of traitors within the group. Since they will steadily gain strength as the match progresses. And whose only goal is to stop the survivors by any (and often hilarious) means necessary. Communication and teamwork are essential to the survivors’ ultimate goal of escape.

Linux Support:

Project Winter – Coming Feb 7th, 2019 (Windows, no Linux yet)

Project Winter is made in unity. And as of right now we don’t have any plans to bring it to linux, possibly down the road though.”

So this is not a full out confirmation, but simply good news. And like most projects in Early Access, keeping support for one platform is easier on the development process.
And in this case, while Other Ocean Interactive works with the community improve the game. Both in polishing performance and adding more features. This gives Linux gamers the opportunity to follow player feedback. Since this timeframe for development is expecting to be between 3 – 6 months.
That being said, I’m eager to see how Project Winter runs via Proton. This might be a workaround for Linux users until we have full Linux support. But if you want to get involved now by backing the project, show your Tux Love via the Steam Discussion post.
