Feral Interactive launches Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, the definitive edition today for Linux. Finally the acclaimed action-adventure is available with native support.

Originally published by Square Enix, developed by Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal for Windows. Rise of the Tomb Raider is also the epic follow-up to Tomb Raider, the 2013 series reboot.

Vulkan is required for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Feral notes that NVIDIA cards will require drivers on version 396.18 or later. AMD cards will need at least Mesa 17.3.5.
So if you have a Vega card, players will need at least Mesa 18.0. AMD cards are also getting support if they are at least GCN 3rd gen.

Being a Steam release, Feral’s hardware requirements only list Ubuntu. Since this is the distribution Valve officially supports. Other distributions of course run Steam just fine, so Arch, Slackware and Debian.

Feral also recommends a minimum of an Intel Core i3-4130T or its AMD equivalent. With 8 GB RAM, at least a 2GB AMD R9 285 or 2GB NVIDIA GTX 680 and 28GB of hard drive space.

  • Requires Vulkan.
  • Nvidia graphics cards require driver version 396.18 or later. If you need to update your drivers, we recommend using the Proprietary GPU Drivers PPA.
  • AMD graphics cards require Mesa 17.3.5 or later. If you need to update your drivers, we recommend using the Padoka Stable PPA.
    • Vega graphics cards require Mesa 18.0 or later.
    • AMD GCN 1st and 2nd generation graphics cards will not get support.
  • Intel graphics cards are not supported.
  • Requires an SSE2 capable processor.

Besides AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration. While there is support for the following Intel integrated graphics cards: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 540, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 550, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650.
