The Hex murder mystery official release date

the hex murder mystery official release date for linux mac windows

The Hex murder mystery has an official release date for Linux, Mac and Windows. All thanks to Daniel Mullins Games has been working on the game for the past two and half years. Finally getting a release on Steam, Itch and Humble Store.

The inciting incident in The Hex follows a phone call. One that the bartender at an old inn receives. Because of a raging storm the connection is shaky. While he can hear that there is a murder plot, but not who is planning it. The only possible suspects are the six patrons of the inn.
That also means each of them is a videogame protagonist with a history of failures and felonies. In sequence, the player takes control of the characters. While eventually triggering a memory from their past. This is where it gets interesting. And what has my attention.

Since each character’s past plays out in an entirely different game genre. The majority of The Hex’s 6 hour play time is actually playing each of these 6 different sub-games. So there is a mechanically diverse set of themes. And of these aesthetics tie everything together. While making The Hex feel like more like a unique collection of minigames. At times genres are bent and blended together.

As stated above, Daniel Mullins has been working on The Hex full-time for the better part of 2.5 years. This is also the biggest, most complex project to date. Jonah Senzel, the composer behind Pony Island’s OST is also been working on The Hex. Creating an incredibly diverse soundtrack with over 20 original tracks. And handling a unique sound design.

For the last stretch of the project Daniel has been working with Brendan Sullivan (@artofsully). Creatng some fantastic 3D models, as well as voice actor Michael Mola.
