total war three kingdoms new gameplay records mode release in linux mac windows games

Total War: THREE KINGDOMS releases new gameplay in Linux, Mac and Windows games. This is also the first footage from Records mode. This shows the historically grounded side of the upcoming strategy. Which is coming to Windows first on May 23rd. With Linux and Mac releasing shortly after.

So for those who do not know. Records is one of two unique modes included in THREE KINGDOMS. Also a first for the Total War franchise.

Building on the legacy of Total War‘s acclaimed history titles. The Records mode draws from 3rd century records of historical events. While offering a practical view of how these conflicts came to pass. This take on THREE KINGDOMS is sure to delight history fans. Since they rely on their own key talents. While working to conquer and conspire their way through Ancient China.

Records is the counterpart to Romancemode. The game’s legendary retelling of the Three Kingdoms history. Also complete with larger-than-life warlords. Since each boasts powerful abilities in Total War: THREE KINGDOMS.
The campaign experience is similar between the two modes. While the differences have a strong impact on real-time battles.

So, in Romance, for example, your general is a force to be reckoned with. Some even able to shout opposing troops to death. In Records, these warlords are regular people. So they are much more exposed to grave wounds or untimely deaths. So victory will depend on your careful tactical orders. One mistake could cost you the loyalty of your faction.

In the Creative Assembly current tests. Records battles can last up to 30% longer. So this plays more as a game of tactical chess than an all-out brawl. Which comes down to units becoming fatigued more quickly. Since this reduces the damage they dish out as they tire. The result is an increase in pressure on player choices. Knowing when to invest energy and how to maintain an advantage.

In this new gameplay battle above. The Ironfirst warlord, Gongsun Zan, must use military precision. While working to best the opposing warrior Ma Chao. Who is also the loyal heir of Ma Teng. Who will emerge victorious?

Total War: THREE KINGDOMS will launch May 23rd, 2019 for Windows PC. While Linux and Mac support will release shortly after. With no specific date just yet.

Further details on THREE KINGDOMS can be found on the Steam page. You can also pre-order on Steam or from the Humble Store.
