Unexplored roguelite action rpg will likely see a native release

unexplored gaming roguelite action rpg will likely see a Linux release

So Unexplored is an accessible yet #challenging roguelite #action #rpg for Windows PC. Featuring a fantastic level generator. Since players explore dangerous dungeons, solve mysterious puzzles and engage hundreds of foes. Hence both big and small, in intense melee combat.

Unexplored creates its dungeons not by way of branching paths, but by using cycles. This technique, called Cyclic Dungeon Generation, results in levels that feel much closer to handcrafted levels compared to standard generated dungeons.

Linux release:

“The game is build in C# using FNA/MonoGame. So yes a Linux port is possible and is something we will do at one point.”

While the port will not happen tomorrow, developer Ludomotion is certainly interested in porting the game. And we just checked, Unexplored still holds a 97% Positive review rating on Steam. What’s more, Unexplored has been in Early Access since August 2016. So the game received 27 major updates and held steady with a 100% positive review rating. Which is impressive for Early Access to say the least.

Unexplored Features:

  • ‘Easy to learn, easy to die’-gameplay
  • Brand new dungeon tech, creates levels that feel handcrafted
  • Emergent gameplay with many tactical options
  • Diverse, real-time, dual wielding melee combat
  • Stealth mechanics (dungeon crawling like a real rogue…)
  • Over 50 dangerous bosses
  • Challenging, generated puzzles
  • Adaptive, original soundtrack[/list]

Unexplored a Roguelike or Roguelite?

Unexplored is in fact a roguelite that is closer to Rogue in spirit than many roguelikes. The game is best described as a realtime, generated dungeon crawler inspired by Brogue.

So the launch of roguelite action rpg Unexplored also marks the first official release of a game using Cyclic Dungeon Generation. The new way of creating -less- random levels and emergent gameplay.

The creator

The game is created by Ludomotion, the studio of famed developer Joris Dormans. Known for his research in the field of procedural content generation. As well as emergent gameplay and the highly acclaimed math game, Sumico (rated 9/10 by Nintendo Life).+

So we will have to wait for this impressive roguelite to come to Linux. However, for those interested, more details are available on Steam.
