We Happy Few may release in the Beta Branch

we happy few may release in the beta branch for linux and steamos

We Happy Few first person open world survival has some Linux news. Which is a small update since the last post for the release.

Below is the Twitter post for the native release. So it looks like there is a native build. Which now including all the recent content for the game.

Linux Beta Branch release:

When can we expect a Linux build?

“No timing yet, as it depends a great deal on patch QA.”

So the Beta Branch idea is definitely a good sign. Also the best solution to get Linux gamers into the game and testing. Since this is an Unreal Engine 4 title after. Which could be following the same practice for native port as Ruiner and Everspace.

Personally I’ve been playing We Happy Few for a while now. But the lack of Linux support keeps me holding back on posting gameplay. Even though Proton is plan B here. But with all of the recent updates and a solid native release now much closer. I’ll wait.

We Happy Few – Launch Trailer (Linux, Mac, Windows)

We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial. Set in a drug-fueled, retro-futuristic city in an alternative 1960’s England. Where a government-imposed, drug-induced happiness masks with gruesome violence and conceals a nefarious mystery. So as that one resident, free of the drug’s effects, you risk you life to learn why his home is a bizarre open-air prison.

We Happy Few is currently available on Steam, GOG and Humble Store priced at $59.99 USD. Supporting Windows, but Linux support is now much closer to finally getting a release.
