No Step Back game expansion just announced for Hearts of Iron IV on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to the ongoing efforts of developer Paradox Development Studio. Due to make its way onto Steam and Paradox Store next month.
The bitter fighting of the Eastern Front is given new depth and variety in No Step Back. Doing so for the upcoming expansion to Hearts of Iron IV. And also to be available on November 23rd 2021. Doing so with new alternate history paths and game systems. This eagerly awaited add-on presents new tests for fans. Still one of Paradox’s best selling grand strategy wargame.
The center piece of No Step Back is a series of new National Focus Trees. Since this gives players many new ways to imagine the course of World War II in Eastern Europe. While major nations have been fully reworked. All due to offer unique tests and original histories.

- New Soviet National Focuses: Communist Soviet rulers must also deal with a government system full of doubt and betrayal. But players can lift up party opposition to the powerful leader. Or even pursue a reaction type of path of restored kinship.
- New Polish National Focuses: Write a new history of Poland with options to reform the government. Fortify the military rulers or support a popular pro Soviet uprising in No Step Back.
- New Baltic National Focuses: Shared alternate history paths for Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. As well as unique paths for each.
- Army Officer Corps: Build a general staff, drawing on the talents and expertise of available officers. All due to take gain in changes of technology and tactics.
- Army Spirits: Highlight certain traits of your military arms. Adding general bonuses to certain units types or even aiding division design.
- Supply System Updates: Scorched Earth tactics, floating harbors, and special supply units. All added to the logistics system in No Step Back.
- Tank Designer: Design your own armored force using modules prioritizing speed, gun power, armor or even production cost.
- Railway Guns: Task the grandest and most famous of weaponry pieces. All uniquely designed to deal with rooted foes, and defended positions.
Music bonus:
As a special bonus, those who pre-order No Step Back will get a musical gift. This is a new edition of the Soviet wartime folk song Katyusha. Originally created before the war. Named for the famous Red Army rocket launchers.
As usual, this expansion to Hearts of Iron IV will come with a major update. This will be free for all players. Including new supply and planning mechanics. As well as many quality of life upgrades.
