nowhere prophet releases first access build for linux ubuntu mac windows games 2017

Nowhere Prophet, the single-player post-apocalyptic card game lands on itch.io. So, starting today Nowhere Prophet is available on itch.io in “First Access”. “First Access?” you ask. Well, imagine if Kickstarter and Early Access had a baby. Therefore players can get early access to the games build. And you can get special rewards while you’re at it.

Nowhere Prophet is a single player deck-building game. The games under development for Linux, Ubuntu, Mac and Windows. With later releases on further platforms still in consideration.

Nowhere Prophet is set in a post-apocalyptic world taking inspiration from Indian culture. While also including sci-fi literature, or course. Build a loyal band of followers and survive the journey across a broken world. Barely.

Nowhere Prophet – First Access Trailer:

On the trail through the procedurally generated wasteland. Players will have to take charge of your convoy. Fighting enemies in the genre-mix that combines card games. With roguelike elements and a tactical turn-based combat system. If you survive you can recruit new followers, find loot and improve your deck to better face the rising challenges ahead.

The game is designed to be a challenging trip through a strange world. Across multiple attempts the player can unlock different classes and convoys until finally they reach the Crypt and unlocks its mysteries.

First Access: Special Rewards for early backers

First Access means that people will have access to the game since Sharkbomb Studios is still working on it. There’s content to build, interfaces to tweak and systems that need balancing. Generally this sort of thing is actually Early Access. Yet the studios going with the name First Access because two aspects are different:

  • First of all, the game will be available on itch.io, not on Steam, as the forefathers demand. So that’s different.
  • Secondly, First Access will feature crowdfunding-like rewards for the early supporters that allow them to become a part of the game. These range from supporters having a listing in the credits. Suggesting an item for the game. All the way to seeing your face setup as a boss enemy in the game. Itch has great support for this sort of thing.

Nowhere Prophet launches in First Access now for Linux, Ubuntu, Mac and Windows. The final release on (Steam and other platforms) is planned for Q2 2018. That’s already way beyond the initial launch date, so pray I do not alter it any further.
