Owlboy action adventure “a possibility for sure” on Linux

Owlboy action adventure a possibility for sure on Linux

Owlboy is a ‘hi-bit’ action #adventure #platformer #game, where players can fly and explore a brand new world in the clouds. Pick up friends, then bring them with you as you explore the open skies. Explore a vibrantly crafted pixel world in this flying adventure platformer. Overcome obstacles and greater enemies, all in one of the most detailed adventures of this era.

Being a mute, Otus struggles living up to the expectations of owl-hood. Things spiral from bad to worse with the sudden appearance of sky pirates.

What follows is a journey through monster infested ruins, with unexpected encounters, and burdens no-one should have to bear.

Owlboy Features:

  • A love letter to pixel art for a new audience, Owlboy is an open-world exploration game with a unique mix of flight and platforming.
  • Carry anything. Recruit Otus’s friends as gunners to fight for you, each with unique abilities and stories.
  • Large dungeons with big and challenging boss battles.
  • An adventure 9 years in the making.

Linux release:

A recent post by the developer on the Steam Discussion certainly shows some positive interest.

“It is a possibility for sure 😀 We’re looking into porting for both Mac and Linux!”

So as it stands, we will likely see a native release for the adventure platformer Owlboy. And further research shows that the game is built using XNA along with D-Pad Studio’s own game engine. Somewhat similar to what Salt and Sanctuary and Stardew Valley are created with.

Owlboy is available on Steam for PC with a 10% discount until November 8th. Stay tuned for that native build.
