Painting Werther is a unique visual novel game for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Which is the result of the unique minds behind developer Mad Cream Games. Working to make its way onto Steam, itch, and Humble Store.

Indie development studio Mad Cream Games will be launching Painting Werther in Q1 2023. Future versions for Android and iOS are also in the plans. This is also an adaptation of The Sorrows of Young Werther (Die Leiden des jungen Werthers in German). Which was written by Johann Wolfgang Goethe in 1774.

The original book tells the story of Werther, a man who falls in love with Charlotte. She is a woman who is due to marry another man, Albert. Werther ends up committing suicide due to not being able to have a conversation. Loved by artists and emperors, Painting Werther shows the inner struggle of a deeply romantic man.

When Painting Werther was published in 1774, it romanticized the idea of committing suicide and dying for love. It was the first best-seller in German and it became one of the favorite works of Napoleon.

The gameplay will last more than 4 hours. Due to contain more than 150 authors and 500 paintings, all of which are in the public domain. The game will also include more than 2 hours of classical music. The OST will also be launching on Steam.

Currently, a downloadable demo version of Painting Werther is available on Steam. While containing 4 different scenes which last between 5-10 minutes in total.
