Project Eternity, developer Obsidian Entertainment’s Kickstarter-funded role-playing game, surpassed Double Fine Adventure today to become the platform’s most-funded video game.

Double Fine Adventure concluded its Kickstarter campaign on March 13th with $3,336,371 in funding. Monday evening, with about one day left in its campaign,Project Eternity exceeded that threshold. At the time of writing the Kickstarter campaign has 23 hours to go and funding has already exceeded $3,337,310 with the number still climbing. The project has been backed by more than 65,246 people so far.

Obsidian’s Kickstarter campaign launched September 14th with a $1.1 million funding goal, which it met in just over 24 hours. Since then, Obsidian set stretch goals, such as Linux and Mac versions, to be developed if the Kickstarter campaign met additional funding thresholds.

Project Eternity hit its $3 million stretch goal recently, which brings Strongholds, where players can “undertake special quests, customize the contents of the stronghold and the surrounding environment, and engage in light strategic gameplay between adventures.” A final goal called “Big Big City” will be added if the campaign reaches $3.5 million and bring a large city reminiscent of Baldur’s Gateand Dungeons & Dragons’ Athkatla to the game.

Last week, Obsidian revealed the first screenshot from Project Eternity, which you can see in the image above.
