Develpers Super Mega Team are looking to #release their puzzle platformer Rise and Shine mid-January. While being a true “think and gun” game. While combining elements of arcade shooters, #bullethell, and puzzle #platformers. As a result, creating a new blend of strategy and viscera.
So players wwitch between Shine’s add-ons to solve puzzles that redefine what bullets can do. Guide projectiles through intricate mazes, electrify damaged equipment to discover new pathways, and juggle 8-bit fruit because why not?
Vulnerability stacks, debuffs, and death rates are multiplying. Ever since the awful space grunts of Nexgen attacked Gamearth, the video game world took a turn for the worse. But Rise and his talking gun Shine have it on their minds to restore Gamearth to its prior-save-state glory―no matter how many respawn’s it takes.
To save Gamearth, Rise must work closely with his new partner Shine. Whose special bullets, and loud-mouthing are key to getting them both safely across each meticulously hand-drawn level. Pack your strategy and timing enhancing gear. So get ready to repel the Nexgen invaders to bring the fun back to Gamearth!

But there’s a catch:
Naturally we reached out to Super Mega to see about a Linux release. The first thing we learned, Rise and Shine is build using Unity 3D. So ideally a native port should be straight forward, right?
“About a Linux release, it all depends of how well the game performs for us to be able to spend time making a Linux version. We are a tiny team, but we’d love to have the game for Linux!”
Why does this matter?
We cannot speak for everyone, but when a game combines elements of arcade shooters, bullet hells, and puzzle-platformers. This is a release we are eager to play. And as we all know, would benefit nicely on Linux.
So a Unity 3D title should have native support out of the gate. But the skill-testing tribute faces the other issue we see a great deal. A really small team of developers trying to release their debut game. While hoping to make an impact in the scene. As a result, they are going to see how well the game is excepted before expanding platforms. Hence this also narrows down the support aspect to something more reasonable.
From Adult Swim Games and Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team, Rise & Shine releases January 13 on PC (Windows) and Xbox One.
