Shadow Life a new precision platformer game is due to get support for Linux with Windows PC. Thanks to the creative efforts of developer Pirate Dog Games. Due to make its way onto Steam next year.

In Shadow Life, you play as an adventurer in the style of Indiana Jones. Explore temples and caves. While you slay monsters and avoid traps and hazards. Uncover hidden rooms. Repair the Book of Dark Magic to defeat the evil spirit that resides in this world. This is the premise behind the gameplay. However, the Steam page only shows Windows PC support. But Linux is already in the plan.

I’m using the Unity engine. Yes, I’m planning a Linux port.

Shadow Life is the creative efforts of a solo developer. The artwork and music are outsourced to create a more vivid gaming experience. While Unity 3D should make the porting process straight forward.

Do keep in mind, the game is a precision platformer at heart. So you can expect a Super Meat Boy type of experience mixed with Indiana Jones style of adventure.
And so far, it looks like Pirate Dog is making it all happen. Offering up challenging levels and some seriously crazy traps. Plus it’s a pleasure to see a developer inspired by Indie himself. There are so many opportunities to create a unique exploration adventure. Plus Shadow Life also lets you play as a male or female hero.

Features:

  • 80 levels
  • Male and female playable characters
  • 5 boss battles
  • Discover hidden rooms in Shadow Life
  • Traps and hazards
  • Monsters to slay
  • Replay previous levels
  • Play with controller or keyboard

Shadow Life is a new precision platformer due to release in 2022 via Steam. Along with support for both Linux and Windows PC on day one. So be sure to Wishlist it on Steam. While the price will be $4.99 USD. The release date is still TBD.
