SOMA is a sci-fi horror game coming to Linux, Mac and Windows PC next month

SOMA is a sci-fi horror game from #FrictionalGames for Linux, Mac and Windows PC, the creators of #AmnesiaTheDarkDescent. All set in a suspicious story about identity, consciousness, and what it means to be human.

Join composer Mikko Tarmia for a look (and listen) behind the unsettling score of SOMA:

Enter the world of SOMA and face horrors buried deep beneath the ocean waves. Delve through locked terminals and secret documents to uncover the truth behind the chaos. Seek out the last remaining inhabitants and take part in the events that will ultimately shape the fate of the station. But be careful, danger lurks in every corner: corrupted humans, twisted creatures, insane robots, and even an inscrutable omnipresent A.I.

“The radio is dead, food is running out, and the machines have started to think they are people. Underwater facility PATHOS-II has suffered an intolerable isolation and we’re going to have to make some tough decisions. What can be done? What makes sense? What is left to fight for?

You will need to figure out how to deal with each one of them. Just remember there’s no fighting back, either you outsmart your enemies or you get ready to run.”

“After such a long development time, five whole years, it feels insane to be this close to the finishing line,” says Frictional. “In just a month we will have unleashed our game, and all of you will be able to play it.”

Five years sounds like a long time for development but remember, Frictional Games is not considered a AAA developer. Just over a dozen people work at the company, and the team also collaborated with The Chinese Room to release Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs back in 2013.

Coming September 22nd, SOMA is now available for PC pre-order on Steam and GOG.com for Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Pre-order customers will receive 10% off the normal price of $29.99.
