Songs of Skydale is a new hardcore action RPG coming to Windows PC, but we have Linux support details. Thanks to developer Kaskuja Studio. Who are also announcing the games release on Steam Early Access.
Songs of Skydale is the debut game from indie developer Kaskuja Studio. A 2D action RPG game with a strong emphasis on adventure and skill based combat. While sporting a Stardew Valley kind of aesthetic.
Songs of Skydale is made with GameMaker Studio. And there is a possibility that the game is coming to Linux. But I don’t know when. If I have understood correctly, it is fairly easy to import a game with GameMaker to Linux.
Also, I’m a solo developer with very limited resources. That is why working with Linux version has not been very high on my priority list.
Songs of Skydale is coming to Early Access. This would also be the best time to release a Linux build. But since Kaskuja Studio is really one developer. Therefore I’d expect a Beta branch somewhere after the release. But as stated above, we don’t know when.
So at first glance, Songs of Skydale appears be typical. Certainly an action RPG to some extent and that impression is true. The player is a stranger who arrives in the Kingdom of Skydale. Who also hopes to begin a new life. Straight away, you are part of various events and quests. While the game progresses, the player faces different characters. As well as new items, enemies, dungeons and puzzles.
Songs of Skydale – Trailer
Although Songs of Skydale has typical action RPG elements. But probably more hardcore than most other RPG or adventure games.
In game, don’t expect the usual aids like a minimap, quick save and health regeneration. This strengthens the sense of survival and adventure. Another important aspect of the game is fast skill based combat. For that reason there is no need to stop while attacking. Just smash your way through the enemy hordes.
If you are tired of playing casual adventure games. Or if you are looking for a hardcore action rpg. Songs of Skydale is the game for you.
Songs of Skydale will release on Steam Early Access, August 21st. Priced at $9.99 USD / Euro. Available for Windows PC, with a Linux build to follow.
