If you have ever watched a Korean drama – or any romantic drama for that matter. Maybe you also wished that the lead character was another protagonist of the show/ Or that the main lead went for another girl (or guy) than the one they featured?
In Sophistry, you live this drama the way you want. So if you want to see it from the eyes of the lead character, so be it. What about from the eyes of the second lead or even the antagonist? You can even play it from the point of view of the love interest. What about romances? Here again, it’s your choice, your story.
Sophistry Kickstrarter Trailer:
Offering 6 playable characters and each with 3 potential love interests. These also follow 18 full romances stories and plot lines. Of course, it is possible to only play 1 character and still enjoy a fulfilling story. But it’s only by playing all six characters that you will unlock all the story’s mysteries. Since they’re all interlinked with one another.
Also note, romances in Sophistry can be man-woman, man-man, and woman-woman. Therefore, there is no discrimination here. It’s important to note that each character has its own unique story path for the romance visual novel. At the same time, all of the characters and assets are fully animated. The gameplay will be using Live2D and the dialogs display. These will use a comic style speech bubble for more interactivity.
The gameplay in Sophistry is story driven and always moving forward. This doesn’t include any grinding or repetitive tasks. Your decisions will shape your relationships towards the 5 main characters. As well as all the other characters in game. Due to be the most complex story ever written for a visual novel.
2 Cubs Studio started the development of Sophistry in September 2020. Since then, the entire creation of the game is due to the studio’s own funds. Fortunately, most of the work is done in-house. Since allows the team to save a lot of money. Ensuring that the game can be fully developed on their own funds.
As the development progressed and people got to play their demo. This progress makes it obvious that voice over wasn’t just an option for their game. But plays a core element of the game itself right from the start. Which you can play via Itch.io for Linux gaming, Mac and Windows PC.
Voice actors (even more so quality ones) are very expensive. They even ask for up to “$21,000” by some actors for their role alone. So this is not the kind of budget the dev team can afford. In addition to the voice acting, other costs come with this. Such as more better character animation and lip-sync.
For these reasons, 2 Cubs Studio are turning to Kickstarter for your support. Allowing the team to deliver their game Sophistry at the quality level that you deserve. Estimating the initial goal of “€20,000” will allow them to do just that for you.
While the voice actors in that price range may not be the best ever. The team is confident that they can hire some sufficiently competent voice acting for the game. That being said, one of the Sophistry stretch goals ensures that they can get voice acting to a really high quality. Which would be better than the original estimations.
Sophistry is their first project, they really hope that they will get your support. So in return, they will develop a game that you’ll truly enjoy.
Sophistry is expected to be ready for release by the end of this year, December 2021. Arriving with support in Linux gaming, Mac, and Windows PC. Followed later, by a mobile release on Android and iOS. So check out the crowdfunding campaign.
