The prospect of Spacebase DF-9 when it was announced and #released on Steam #Early Access was an exciting one. We’d build and manage a space station, mine and combat enemies in the empty void of the heavens. Pretty cool, right?
After dropping money on it to get into the Early Access form, Spacebase DF-9 sort of became a representation of what gamers do not like about the Early Access program.
Fast-forward to now, and Double Fine has continued support for the product. Alpha 6 has been released, and the developer has produced an overview video that shows off some gameplay and offers up an apology for any lack of updates.
The game looks much more interesting and playable than it did before. We have new races, security systems, random attacks and a whole lot more.
Slowly, Spacebase DF-9 is becoming the game everyone wanted to play when it was announced. That’s good news, Double Fine and the Early Access program get our vote.
