Valve has launched a new beta version for its Steam for Linux client, bringing a lot of interesting new features.
After a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes it to stable. The work for the next beta starts almost immediately.
Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux beta update:
- Support for 64-bit Linux titles has been implemented;
- A “friendly machine name” is now provided when Steam-Guarding an account;
- Finding Steam client skins on Linux now works properly;
- A crash that occurred when looking at community images on Linux has been fixed;
- Linux Steam overlay is now restoring the proper mouse cursor;
- The data format of client updates has been changed in order to improve the compatibility with flawed proxy servers.
