Steam says 30 percent growth and 65 million accounts since last year

The Steam platform boasts more than 65 million accounts to date, a 30 percent growth in active accounts over the last year, Valve announced today.

This year marks the 10th #anniversary of Steam, which currently offers more than 3,000 #games across Windows PC, Mac and #Linux. Over the past year, Valve has introduced several new features to the Steam platform, including the library-sharing service Family Sharing, the Steam Trading Cards metagame, Steam Early Access for game developers and support for more Linux titles.

In the coming months and for 2014, Valve is working to launch its Steam Machines, the company’s move to bring its games to the living rooms space, as well as the Linux-based SteamOS software. The company also plans to hold more Steam Developer Days in Seattle, Wash. this coming January.

“The main goal of Steam has always been to increase the quality of the user’s experience by reducing the distance between content creators and their audience,” Valve co-founder and president Gabe Newell said in a press statement. “As the platform grows, our job is to adapt to the changing needs of both the development and user communities. In the coming year, we plan to make perhaps our most significant collaborations with both communities through the Steam Dev Days and the Steam Machines beta.”
