Stonewall Penitentiary, an indie murder mystery adventure for Windows on Steam, but with plans on Linux as well. So we reached out to developer Storycentric Worlds for confirmation.
Why? The visual style of graphic novels, is now available on Windows. While paying tribute to Agatha Christie’s classic And Then There Were None. And also horror thrillers like Scream and Saw. Where players discover why you and six others were kidnapped by an unknown captor. Searching an eerie prison and solve mind-bending puzzles to determine “whodunit!”
“Stonewall Penitentiary uses our own proprietary game engine. which is called the Storycentric Worlds engine. I am definitely looking into a Linux port for the engine in the future. though it will be a bit of a wait.
In the meantime, I am currently testing the possibility of playing the game on Linux through emulation. So far, the preliminary tests are good. and I hope to be able to announce that the game works in this method soon.”
So you guessed it. As an alternative, Stonewall Penitentiary runs on Wine. We have also tested the install via PlayOnLinux using Wine 3.3. And gameplay works nicely.
But there is also a Linux release coming. However that custom game engine is what could see a delay. And an exactly for the Linux release is unknown.
While Stonewall Penitentiary is a traditional 2D point-and-click first-person adventure game. This is also focus on exploration and narrative. As gameplay features beautiful graphic novel-style artwork and cinematic music. Explore an abandoned prison by navigating from room to room.
Separate inventory, map, journal and character screens are available at the push of a button.
