SUPERLIMINAL very unique first person puzzle

superliminal very unique first person puzzle for linux windows pc

SUPERLIMINAL is a unique first person puzzle due to release on Windows PC, but there are Linux plans. Thanks to developer Pillow Castle Games. Which actually coming to the Epic Store this week. Let me explain.

SUPERLIMINAL is a forced perspective puzzle game. It’s actually quite mind bending. Also due to release for Windows PC on November 12th, 2019. Since gameplay lets you get lost in your thoughts. While you feel the satisfaction of figuring out each solution. Then continue into this mysterious, surreal world. Somewhat like Portal but it’s not. We also have the brand new trailer below. Including developer feedback about Linux.

Linux Support:

  • SUPERLIMINAL is developed using Unity.
  • We would like to investigate a Linux version. But it won’t happen at launch.
  • We will release on Steam one year after our Epic Store release.

While Unity 3D is being used for development. You might expect a day one Linux support, nope. But this is not the first game we’ve encountered to make an Epic Store debut. Since SUPERLIMINAL will release on Steam later. Hence the limitation in platform support. Along with the assumption that all games on Epic are Unreal Engine 4. Clearly not the case.
Borderlands 3 is another game that released on Epic. But it’s not coming to Steam until 6 months after launch. And that’s as AAA title. So I find it interesting to see a developer waiting a full year for a Steam debut. Which is also a bit disappointing, seeing Proton support would work well here.

SUPERLIMINAL Launch Trailer

So let’s explain SUPERLIMINAL. This is a single-player, first person puzzle game. But the gameplay uses perception as a mechanic. You play as someone who wakes up in a surprisingly lucid dream. As you complete puzzles to get to the next exit. Certain patterns and truths also become more apparent.
In SUPERLIMINAL, everything is exactly what it seems to be. Wait, no… that’s not right. Everything is the opposite of what you think it is? That’s not correct either. This is a game about breaking expectations. And thinking outside the box. What you see is what you get. Literally.
