System Shock Launches on Kickstarter

The much #anticipated day has finally arrived! System Shock reboot launched on Kickstarter today with a #goal of $900,000. The breakthrough FPS/RPG hybrid and one of the most influential video games ever produced.
#NightdiveStudios are offering some great rewards to our backers, from Collector’s Edition box sets, original art work, and even the chance to become one of the casualties on board Citadel Station! Reward tiers start as low as $5. Exciting stretch goals await! Cross-platform integration, localization, and even VR implementation once the initial goal is surpassed.

System Shock reboot is a complete remake of the genre defining classic from 1994, rebuilt from the ground up with the Unity Engine.

“OSX and Linux versions will be unlocked when our first stretch goal is reached. We’re open to other platforms in the future.”

Originally released in 1994, System Shock ushered in a new era of action gaming. Combining a compelling storyline with innovative RPG elements, System Shock was a ground-breaking title that would influence numerous other games such as BioShock and DeusEx. Now System Shock reboot is being redone from the ground up for today’s PC and console players.

“This is a full-fledged reboot of a classic game into something new” said Stephen Kick, CEO of Nightdive Studios. “As well as including members of the original team, such as famed concept artist Robb Waters, we have been expanding to include a number of industry veterans with years of AAA development experience having worked on games such as Fallout, Tomb Raider, Skyrim and Wasteland.”

What Has Been Done

Re-imagined enemies, weapons, and locations by original concept artist Robb Waters.

Robb Waters, Concept Artist for both the original and contemporary versions of the game added “When I was first approached by Nightdive, I was excited at the opportunity to revisit my original work. However, it has turned into much more than that. I have been able to completely re-envision the unfortunate occupants of Citadel Station in a way that technology would not permit in 1994.”

Terri Brosius reprises her role as SHODAN and new Voice Overs will be recorded for audio logs.
Brand new musical score composed by Jonathan Peros and immersive environment-based 3D sound design in glorious 7.1 surround, bringing the horror of Citadel Station directly to your ears.

User interface, game mechanics, enemies, and puzzles will be updated to reflect next generation aesthetics and sensibilities while maintaining the look and feel of the original.

Nightdive Studios also offer a fully playable demo version available for everyone on Windows PC. Taking this step to assure fans of the commitment to creating a AAA-quality experience. Available on Steam, GOG and The Humble Store
