Tabletop Gods battle game looks into support

tabletop gods battle looks to support linux games

Tabletop Gods arcade action battle game releases for Windows, but Linux is in consideration. Since Ghost Fish Games, a division of Other Ocean Group, debuts the game on Steam Early Access. We have some good news about Linux support incoming.

Typically, people get somewhat discouraged by Early Access games. But it seems Tabletop Gods is better than expected, holding a 100% Positive review rating on Steam. This was after the art style and gameplay caught my attention. Which always has me pensive, especially for an Early Access release.

So in Tabletop Gods, players take on the roll of a power-hungry God. While commanding devout mortal followers across tabletop battlefields. Doing so in frenetic, arcade-style combat against other players. Casting powerful spells to thwart your enemy’s advances or to bolster your own attacks. While destroying your enemy‘s Strongholds to gain new territory. Commanding your believers to squash the other player’s heathen troops. While the fifteen minute matches are perfect for quick one-off games or for longer multiple-battle sessions.

The style of gameplay with the art style reminds me of Dungeons 3. But this time there is a more vibrant game environment. Plus you get to choose your God type. Then lay havoc to enemies. Plus you can get into cross-play with desktop players as well as those on VR.

Linux Support:

“Right now it’s early days for Tabletop Gods and we’ll be looking at the viability of rolling out the game on Linux and other platforms as we move forward.”

This is positive news. Although I’m still waiting on details regarding VR support for Linux. But that at least the developer is putting Linux support into consideration. That and the success of the game on Early Access so far, should provide the motif to continue expanding platform support. So show some Tux Love via the Steam Discussion and Wishlist on Steam.

“Our Ghost Fish Games division is lead by an elite team of veteran developers who have combined a traditional tabletop war game experience with frenetic, arcade-action and aspects of the tower defence genre,” said Deirdre Ayre, Head of Operations for Other Ocean Group Canada. “In addition to desktop PC gameplay, Tabletop Gods can also be played in Virtual Reality, giving players the visceral experience of looming over the tabletop battlefield as they lead their troops to war against their opponent,” added Ayre.

Tabletop Gods battle game release is on the Steam Store in Early Access for Windows PC. As well as Virtual Reality for HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift + Touch with Xbox controller support. While Other VR platforms will follow. The games also priced at $19.99 USD.

While development takes place in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Along with support from the Canada Media Fund, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Innovation PEI.
