Life is Strange the critically acclaimed award-winning episodic adventure coming to Mac, then Linux

Feral Interactive today announced that the #awardwinning #episodic #adventure game Life is Strange will be released on Mac soon. Created by Paris-based developer DONTNOD and published by Square Enix on console and Windows, Life is Strange has been highly praised by critics and fans alike for its moving narrative, stylish visuals and compelling system of choice and consequences. All five episodes will be available to play at launch.

Follow the story of Max Caulfield, a photography senior who discovers she can rewind time while saving her best friend Chloe Price. The pair soon find themselves investigating the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber, uncovering a dark side to life in Arcadia Bay. Meanwhile, Max must quickly learn that changing the past can sometimes lead to a devastating future.

“We’re incredibly excited to be bringing such a unique and captivating game to Mac and Linux,” said David Stephen, Managing Director at Feral Interactive. “Life is Strange tackles complex themes and asks a lot from its audience, but it gives back in spades. It’s a game that shouldn’t be missed.”

So obviously the Linux port will not be too far off. It is just disappointing but not entirely surprising that Feral Interactive are releasing the Mac port first.

Table Top Racing World Tour coming to PC and quite likely Linux as well

Tabletop gaming is always interesting, but even moreso when available for Linux. Table Top Racing World Tour #combat #racing #game from Playrise Digital has been in development for the past year or so. A mix of Micro Machines and Mario Kart, from Wipeout co-creator Nick Burcombe and Playrise Digital. Now it looks like the title will be making a Steam debut, sometime between April and June, after a few months of exclusivity on PS4.

Table Top Racing: World Tour will handle up to 8 players, with the choice of 12 customizable cars to race, battle with weapons and power-ups on 20 dynamic circuits (both offline against AI and online). Right now it is not clear if the PC version will comes with the console-style splitscreen local multiplayer.
Further confirmation has not been released nor a full list of supported platforms on Steam, but we do know the title has been developed in Unity 5 according to an IGN post.

Linux Game News has reached out to Playrise Digital, but no further details are available at this time. However the studio did not deny claims of a Linux port, but outlined that “more news will follow soon.” Which gives us hope of what is yet to come. Even though there is no entry listed in the Steamdb, yet.

For further details, check out the official website and make sure to follow on Twitter and YouTube.

Stardew Valley hit indie simulation game may be coming to Linux and Mac

Stardew Valley is the latest #indie title currently making it big on Steam and getting a ton of praise from #fans. Basically described as a cross between Harvest Moon, Rune Factory and maybe Animal Crossing.

Currently Stardew Valley is only available for Windows, but could be making a Linux and Mac relatively soon, if the sales continue as they have been.

In a Question and Answer post on the Stardew Valley page, the Linux and Mac versions were confirmed to be up for consideration:

Will this come to MAC / Linus?
Depending on sales of the game, most likely!

And that Q/A can also be directly referenced here:

I’ve updated the Q&A for launch. Depending on sales of the game, there will be version for both MAC and Linus (…..linux. For linux.)

Linux Game News reached out to publisher Chucklefish, receiving news that only a Windows port would be available due to the game being developed in XNA and the only upcoming changes would be an update to add multiplayer.
However, the community demands speak for themselves and famed developer Ethan Lee has offered to help with the game, possibly even working something out between them. Considering just how well Stardew Valley is selling, it’s only a matter of time.

Stardew Valley is probably the hottest game on Steam right now with over 58,000 people playing today. Currently holding a perfect score on Steam with over 5,700 reviews, and having watched gameplay on Twitch it certainly deserves the praise.

Goliath action adventure game coming to Linux, Mac and Windows PC

Goliath is an action adventure game coming to Linux, Mac and Windows in early 2016. Representatives of developer Whalebox Studio and publisher Viva Media were at E3 2015 with a gameplay demo of Goliath. The game comes loaded with RPG elements and crafting. In Goliath, players find themselves in a mysterious land consisting of the jumbled fragments of a hundred dead civilizations. Several powerful factions battle for control of this strange and broken world, but even the mightiest amongst them tremble in fear of the monstrous giants that roam the land. To survive among these giant creatures, players must scavenge for resources and materials needed to create Goliaths to either use for battle or barter for their very lives.

Starting with simple wooden versions, players will learn to create dozens of Goliaths from a variety of materials: wood, stone, metal and other more unique materials found throughout the world. The Goliath’s can be customized and outfitted with weapons to create loadouts for various situations and players’ battle preferences. But giant robots will not solve every problem. Players will also need to craft items and tools for basic survival, build shelters and fortresses, and choose which factions to support in the war that is sweeping across the land.

There are various factions fighting for control here: humans, sentient robots, demons, and forest folk. So you can decide which faction to join. Either way you will have to mine for resources to use in order to create your Goliath’s.

  • Build A ‘Bot Factory: Learn how to create dozens of robotic Goliath suits from a variety of materials, including wood, stone, metal and more. Each Goliath can be customized and equipped with a variety of weapons – after players have learned how to craft them, of course.
  • Survive A Savage Land: Gather materials to build the tools needed to survive, including healing salves, protective fortresses and more. As players explore the world, they’ll learn more complex recipes for better tools and weapons.
  • Choose A Side: The world of Goliath is populated with several factions that vie for control of resources and territory. These factions include humans, the sentient robotic beings The Created, the demon-like Daemonari, and the elusive Forest Folk. Each faction can offer different strategic advantages in unique weapon and robot plans, and players must carefully choose with which factions to align themselves. Players can attempt to broker peace or rally their faction to accelerate the war!
  • Procedurally Generate World: Players will explore a unique world with every game, thanks to a procedurally generated world.
  • A Living World: Explore rolling prairies, dense forests, eerie swamps, frozen tundras and more, all with a complete day/night cycle and dynamic weather. Weather and terrain will affect how each of the robots performs, so players will need to make sure they have the right machine for the job!
  • Co-Op and Competitive Multiplayer: Players can play through Goliath’s campaign with a friend in cooperative gameplay or go head-to-head in arena combat!

When it comes time for combat, your character gets inside the goliath and battles away. Explore prairies, forests, swamps and more. Each will feature a dynamic day/night cycle which affects what you come across and stumble upon, but also how effective your goliath’s will be in combat. Knowing what to use and when is something that will have to be learned. The more you explore, the more you discover, learn, and it becomes that much easier to survive.

The game world is procedurally generated, the same as in the classic rogue-like style, gameplay will be different each time you play. Not to mention some multiplayer options to keep you going. Being able to play the main campaign with a friend and still get into some PvP comabat as well.

Goliath’s world comes with plenty to see and do, exploring and searching as well as fighting in. You can check out more details at Goliath’s official website.

Paradox reveals release date for Crusader Kings II: Horse Lords for Linux, Mac and Windows PC

It is rather unlike hordes of nomadic invaders to stick to schedule, but the Horse Lords have told us that we can expect a rainfall of arrows on July 14. Horse Lords is the latest expansion for #Paradox Development Studios’s much-loved grand #strategy #RPG CrusaderKings II for Linux, Mac and Windows PC and it will bring the hellfire of war on the steppes to glorious map-painting life on your desktop.

With a heavy focus on the Mongol and Turkic invaders of the Central Asian plains, Horse Lords adds an expanded map, new ruling systems for the fascinating culture of the nomadic tribes that changed the course of world history from the saddle. There are also some minor tweaks that will affect everyone, including the construction of temporary forts to hold an area in your control and introducing the Silk Road – the wealthy trade highway that ran from the Mediterranean to East Asia.

Features in the coming Horse Lords expansion include:

  • Nomadic rule: Distinct from the tribal governments already in game, nomads need lots of space and resist the trappings of settlement
  • Clan politics: Rule a clan within a nomadic tribe, split clans that get too large, fight for dominance, and proclaim feuds and blood oaths
  • Muster Hordes: Raise vast armies of horsemen and archers, mobilizing your entire population to ride forth and conquer
  • Silk Road: This rich trade network can bring great wealth to whomever controls the cities along the route – but it’s especially ripe for pillaging.
  • Larger Map: The Central Asian plains have been expanded
  • Tributaries: New diplomatic relationship for nomad states forces defeated enemies to keep the Khan’s coffers filled.
  • Forts: build temporary fortifications to hold a province under your sway for just long enough for you to finish the war.

To celebrate the July 14 announcement, Paradox decided to release a few screenshots that show off some of the coming changes in the Horse Lords expansion.

And the goal of the studio is to create exciting new experiences that combine modern game design with classic 2D gameplay. The former release from the studios consisted of 2D shooter “Take Arms” on XBLIG in 2011, and formerly unreleased action-puzzler “48 Chambers” on PC and XBLIG in early 2012. Shadow Warrior 2 coming to Linux, Mac and Windows PC in 2016

Shadow Warrior #sequel #officially #revealed on the Facebook page, linked to the refreshed Shadow Warrior website with a logo depicting the number two and the question “Who wants some more Wang?”

Publisher Devolver Digital revealed Shadow Warrior 2 is coming to Linux, SteamOS, Mac and Windows PC. The stunning evolution of Flying Wild Hog’s offbeat first-person shooter starring Lo Wang, wielding his devastating combination of guns, blades, magic and wit to strike down the demonic legions overwhelming the world.

Five years have passed since Lo Wang shattered the alliance between his deceitful former boss and the ancient gods of the shadow realm. Despite noble intentions, Lo Wang’s efforts to annihilate the darkness corrupted the world, creating a strange and savage new order where humans and demons live side by side.

When a simple mission goes wrong, Lo Wang is drawn into a volatile conflict between a brilliant young scientist, a controversial cult leader, and a terrifying new drug known as Shade. The sharp-tongued hero must once again wield lethal blades, staggering firepower, and archaic magic to purge the world of evil.

A livestream for Shadow Warrior 2 will be available on Twitch June 15 at 3.30pm ET/8.30pm UK.

  • Blades and Bullets: Lo Wang delivers his own brand full throttle brutality with an expanded array of over 70 lethal blades and explosive firearms to overcome the demonic opposition. Become a whirlwind of steel and blood with razor sharp katana, short swords, crescent blades, and hand claws or unleash a hellish symphony of ornate firearms to decimate your enemies.
  • Four Player Co-Op: Battle through the expansive campaign alone or team up as a four-player typhoon of destruction online in campaign co-op mode. Tackle challenging primary missions or thrilling side quests while maintaining your own ninja style with customizable armor, items, and valuable loot from your triumphs.
  • Procedural Environments: The breach between the human and demon realms created an interdimensional hernia resulting in constant shifts to the world of Shadow Warrior 2. Procedurally generated landscapes and paths bring new twists and turns to once familiar terrain and routine missions.
  • Brutal Damage System: Choose your weapon based on the situation at hand and then dismantle everything that stands in your path with an advanced gore system. Use precision blade strikes to separate limbs and heads or switch to heavy ordinance and blow a hole right through colossal beasts.
  • Custom Upgrade System: Upgrade weapons in your arsenal with up to three stones at once to improve performance or augment them with devastating elemental effects. Collect karma, amulets, and armor to enhance Lo Wang’s power and shift his death-dealing artistry into overdrive.

We also know that Flying Wild Hog are looking for Programmers with Unreal Engine 3 & 4 experience. So the visuals are looking gory but rather stunning.

Shadow Warrior 2 will be fully revealed soon, and as you can see in the screenshots, there is still plenty of gore. So check out the Steam page already been setup for the upcoming release.
