divinity: original sin 2 launch and voice acting linux mac windows games steam

Larian Studios has announced that Divinity: Original Sin 2, the highly anticipated RPG will launch on Steam on September 14th. Featuring a full roster of voice acting content and talent. With more than 1 million words and over 74,000 lines of voiced dialogue.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Voice Recordings:

The Linux release?

Believe us, it’s not that we’re not interested in producing a version for Mac/Linux/Console. It’s just that we want to get the gameplay and world fleshed out in all the detail that it needs first. Once we have the game fully worked out, we’ll start looking at porting it to other platforms. That’s not something that’ll happen during the Kickstarter or indeed this year.

From Larian Studios:

“This FAQ from 2 years ago is stating that we would be “looking at porting at other platforms.” Which does not guarantee a Linux/Mac/Console version will ever happen. It will depend on the success of DOS2, and the resources available after the release.”

Since this update covers the launch date and voice acting. Any further news regarding Linux is somewhat limiting even via Kickstarter. However more content is coming. Since we have further feedback from Larian Studios. It looks like a Linux release will be a “wait and see.”

Divinity: Original Sin 2 includes veterans from the games industry:

  • Harry Hadden-Paton as the Red Prince, a haughty but heroic lizard noble exiled from his own empire.
  • Alix Wilton Regan as Sebille, an elven assassin seeking vengeance against the Master who once enslaved her.
  • Tamaryn Payne as Lohse, a star musician possessed by an unwelcome – and powerful – visitor.
  • Chris Finney as Ifan ben-Mezd, a mercenary ex-soldier on the run from a haunted past.
  • Alec Newman as Beast, a rebel-turned-pirate who must save his people from their reckless and tyrannical queen.
  • Christopher Bonwell as the undead whose origin story will soon have a reveal.

Not only do the game’s main origin characters have a full voice-over. Divinity: Original Sin 2 also features around 1200 different characters and creatures. All voicing has a completely full cast of around 80 actors. The full extent of the games voice content cannot possibly be available in one playthrough. So players who want to hear every NPC’s story. And every origin story interaction will require many playthroughs.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 characters voicing:

Fans of the Divinity series may remember Harry Hadden Paton, who voiced Edmund in Divinity: Dragon Commander, as well as the Male Inquisitor in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Alix Wilton Regan has also leant her voice talents to Divinity: Dragon Commander and the original Divinity: Original Sin, as well as a Mass Effect 3, the Dragon Age series, and Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide. The voice of Alec Newman will also be recognizable – voicing characters in many popular games. These include Dragon Age II, Killzone 3, The Witcher 2 and 3, several Assassin’s Creed games.  And also several games in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Vote to decide on Divinity: Original Sin 2’s GOG.com Character

Together with LarianStudios, we invite gamers to choose the future GOG hero – a #community-inspired character to be featured in Divinity: Original Sin 2 for #Linux, Mac and Windows PC, heading day-one to GOG.com.

Back in October, we asked the community to help create a GOG.com character with a unique quest in Divinity: Original Sin 2. We collected tons of incredible ideas, while the talented team at Larian Studios designed three characters to embody the most awesome of those traits and concepts:

  • Doryld “The Doryld” Surpass: On a soapbox in the town square, the madman messiah proclaims his divinity. He is the new Divine! His audience of three, two of whom are drunk (the other may be you), ask for proof of his powers. He resists. They insist.

Fadeland Johns: The veteran masked adventurer drones on about her exploits in the old world. How the young people of today don’t know nothin’. She’s going out into the world to show ’em how adventure is done proper. Just as soon as she finishes this drink.

  • Eithne: You encounter Eithne – masked and cloaked – weighed down with a massive rucksack of knowledge. She has books to trade and books to sell – mostly rare and arcane knowledge better left unlearnt…

In anticipation of the sequel, Divinity: Original Sin – Enhanced Edition now features full support for GOG Galaxy, including achievements and multiplayer – you can grab it at 50% off for a limited time.

Head to gog.com/GOGHero to vote for the lucky NPC to represent GOG.com in Divinity: Original Sin 2! Voting and the 50% discount on Divinity: Original Sin last for five days, until April 27, 12:59 AM UTC / 5:59 AM PDT / 8:59 AM EDT.
