Mad Max will be making a Linux debut according to SteamDB

This week, new #information has shown up for Mad Max on SteamDB. A title that now looks like it will be making a Linux #debut.

“Become Mad Max, the lone warrior in a savage post-apocalyptic world where cars are the key to survival. In this action-packed, open world, third person action game, you must fight to stay alive in The Wasteland, using brutal on-ground and vehicular against vicious gangs of bandits. A reluctant hero with an instinct for survival, Max wants nothing more than to leave the madness behind and find solace in the storied “Plains of Silence.” Players are challenged with treacherous missions as they scavenge the dangerous landscape for supplies to build the ultimate combat vehicle. “

Mad Max the base game, now available with a 66% discount on Steam, but only until February 12th.

Mad Max game support should be coming to SteamOS and Linux

Up until this point, the Mad Max game from #Avalanche Studios would #support Linux gamers, based on information in the official #pressrelease. This information was made available from the source. SteamOS was mentioned directly along with Windows PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4, respectively.

Now that the launch of the game has just passed, there is nothing referring to SteamOS even available. So if the game is being ported to Linux, there are not details available indicating Avalanche Studios working on the port or some other studio.

The Avalanche wiki has the following line listed at the end of the Mad Max section, “A Linux port was also announced.[58]
However, this is nothing else available about Mad Max releasing for SteamOS.

The press release back on March 3, 2015, outlines the follows, “Mad Max™ is set to launch 4th September in the UK for PlayStation®4, Xbox One, PC and SteamOS.”
While a later press release on April 23, 2015, says, “Mad Max will be released on 4th September, 2015 for PlayStation® 4, Xbox One and PC. PC will be available via digital only in the UK.”

Linux Game News has reached out to Avalanche in hopes of narrowing down this confusion. Stay tuned for more details.
