Flinthook action platformer getting solid reviews

flinthook action platformer gets solid reviews in linux gaming news

Tribute Games are back in gaming news with the #release of Flinthook. Hence their fast action platformer with #roguelike elements for Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Hence allowing players to become the greatest pirate in space. All with a hookshot, pistol and slow motion powers.

What’s the Story

So in a galaxy filled with scoundrels and miscreants. Everyone seeks treasure and riches. Yet when a treasure hunter hatches a sinister plan to unleash an ancient evil threatening the cosmos itself. Hence Flinthook, the galaxy’s smallest but toughest pirate takes on the action. So be ready to jump, zip and blast around the meanest fleets the galaxy has to offer. Whether using time-slowing powers or his trusty blasma pistol, Flinthook is ready to take on all pirates, steal treasure and save the galaxy itself!

Flinthook launch trailer:

  • Zip around with your mighty hookshot! Aim freely and toss your giant anchor at golden rings to propel yourself around the levels at high speeds. Giving you the agility and swiftness needed to dodge hazards and enemy bullets.
  • Shoot in 360’ through your Blasma Pistol! Take down all sorts of enemies with fresh hot bullets!
  • Look really cool with slow-motion powers when gaming. Slow down time to adjust your aim or pull off a tight stunt.  So do it often, it recharges really fast and it makes you at least 200% cooler.
  • Blast through randomly-assembled pirate spaceships. Since each level is special, as ships are procedurally built from hundreds of hand-crafted rooms. Hence modified by various variants. Filled with extraordinary treasure and populated by random waves of enemies.
  • Hunt down the pirate lords of the Cluster Clan. Feed your compass creature to pinpoint the bosses’ location. Then take them down and bring your bounty home. Your rivals are no space chumps, make sure you’re ready for the challenge!
  • Collect rare relics and powerful perk cards! All the treasure you loot builds up your legend – unlock new equippable perks as you level up, buy permanent upgrades in the Black Market, and hoard collectible relics and lore pages!
  • Uncover some mysterious secrets?! I don’t know, are there secrets in this game? O_O

Flinthook explained:

Since the name Tribute Games rings a bell. I remember the developers in the news for both Mercenary Kings from 2014 and Wizorb back in 2012. Both titles have Linux support with positive reviews. So it’s no surprise to see the studio upping their game with Flinthook. Since the Steam reviews boast a solid 90% for the action platformer on Linux, Mac and Windows PC.

So Flinthook is available with a 10% discount on both Steam and Humble Store.

Draw Slasher ninja platformer now on Steam

Draw Slasher ninja platformer now on Steam linux mac pc

Draw Slasher is a #unique and #fastpaced platformer that #released for Linux, Mac and Windows PC a couple of days back.
Meet Hanzo. He’s the ninja. While he was training ‘out there’ the Pirate Monkey Zombies™ – stupid, ugly, smelly, rotten and disgusting creatures – kidnapped his family. As a player you must take control of his awesome blade and aid him in the quest to free them.

All you need to do is use your mouse to play. LMB + draw a line to jump, dash, dodge, and slash. RMB to summon powerful Ninjutsu Techniques – super-efficient against the ‘rottents’.

Draw Slasher Features:

  • Unique mouse only controls
  • Story Mode
  • Challenges Mode
  • Endless Arcade: Survival and Gatekeeper Modes
  • Upgradeable Ninjutsu Techniques

Cut, slice, snip, sever, chop, shear and trim hordes of Pirate Monkey Zombies™. Which we admit looks rather appetising. Too bad it’s only a single-player game.

However!! Draw Slasher is not over priced on Steam, typically we’d expect around the $12 USD mark, but it’s half of that. With a 10% discount until October 20th on top of it all.

Raven’s Cry pirate action RPG will be updated and re-released as Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry

#RavensCry, the RPG that came out early this year #launching on Steam in January with catastrophic user reviews. Anyone would presume the #developer would hang its head in shame and go bankrupt or start making mobile games. However #RealityPumpStudios decided to push ahead with a re-release, an updated version with the new title Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry.

After the game’s disastrous release (a 27 score on Metacritic) earlier this year, I lost track of Raven’s Cry and made my peace with the fact that whatever potential the pirate-themed action-RPG might have had had already been squandered. I just might have been wrong, however.

The folks at Reality Pump Studios and TopWare Interactive have published a press release to announce that the game will be updated and re-released as Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry, and even launched a new website to celebrate the occasion.

“After an almost seven year-long cursed development, we are finally ready to unleash Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry as it was meant to be seen and played. Development for Vendetta began way back in 2008, and has seen every game pitfall imaginable. Even Christopher himself, actor Mark Strohman had an infection that traveled into his brain, almost landing in Davy Jones’ Locker himself during MoCap shootings. It’s been a long and wired journey, but after all the time and all the setbacks, we are proud to say that the game is close to be finished and we launch the new website today!”

More than an update, though, the developers seem to consider this the actual finished product. The release date is not yet know, but the developers have confirmed that Raven’s Cry owners will receive the new game free on the Steam forums:

“..it will take longer than expected. We do not want to promise any date by now. And I do not think there will be any patch. It should be a complete new app. Of course everyone who purchased Raven’s Cry before will receive such this new app as a free upgrade.”

The official website also includes a more in-depth look at the new additions and improvements across the board. The new features include completely re-recorded voice overs, an all-new alchemy system, “numerous” new quests, improved sailing including an option for free sailing, an improved fighting system, new cutscenes, and more:

  • Rewards for quest completion have been enhanced.
  • Christopher’s fighting skills have been enhanced and improved.
  • Numerous new quests have been added and existing quests have been enhanced.
  • Faster sailing: sailing has been tweaked to be more dynamic, with a speed-up option that accelerates time.
  • Enhanced and upgraded trading system.
  • An upgraded skill system with new skills to unlock.
  • Quest indicators for easy, medium and difficult quests have been added, in addition to an improved hint system.
  • In-game achievements with progress indicators have been added where applicable.
  • A robust Alchemy system has been added, allowing players to collect various herbs and alcohols to brew potent potions and tinctures with a variety of effects.
  • Use a variety of historically accurate flags to trick your enemies, disguise your intentions, and improve the appearance of your vessel.
  • Free-sailing mode allows players to sail without restrictions.
  • New videos and cut-scenes.
  • Completely re-recorded English voice acting.
  • Improved fighting system with new combos, slow motion finishing moves and weapons.

Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry will be available for Linux, Steam OS, Mac and Windows PC. 50+ hours of gameplay, over 360 characters, more than 500 quests, 120 minutes of cinematics, authentic weapons, locations and ships, a free-flowing melee combat system and intense naval battle action await you in this sprawling role playing adventure. Every choice or deal has a price, and yours will dictate your journey, and your fate.

Raven’s Cry delayed again and will be coming to Linux and SteamOS

Raven’s Cry, the vengeful #pirate game being published by #TopWareInteractive, has once again been delayed on PC – but by only a month.

According the latest update, a bit more swabbing of the deck was needed and in addition to being #released on PC and Mac, the game will now dock on SteamOS and Linux November 27.

Originally slated for release on October 24, 2013, the game was delayed into May 2014 after development was handed over from Octane Games to Reality Pump.

The latter started reworking the game, and added in a host of extra features such as a new open world.

After switching hands, the game was set for an October 14 release this year but will now instead be released on November 27.

The PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions will arrive during Q1 2015.
