vidar puzzle adventure rpg release for linux gaming 2017

Since it happens every now again, we miss something. Hence the release of #Vidar for Linux, Mac and Windows PC’s. While it’s been almost a week since the 2017 debut in #gaming. Yet here we are releasing news now, I know.

Since every villager has heavily interdependent relationships with the others. So when one person dies, everyone else’s stories changes. Therefore if the blacksmith loses her apprentice, she’ll give you different quests. And if the blacksmith loses her supplier, still different. Then she predeceases both, then those two will respond accordingly, etc. Because the order of deaths is random. The story and quests you receive will be different every time you are gaming.

Therefore to stop the killings you’ll need to enter a puzzle dungeon. So while using tools and your environment to help navigate to the center of the cave before everyone is dead in town. These puzzles are also randomly chosen from a bank of hundreds. So that when you come back to see a new story unfold, you’ll also face a new challenge.

Vidar Features:

  • Explore themes of grief, community, nostalgia, loss
  • Quests, rewards, and story determined by who lives and who dies
  • Town events reflect the state of Vidar, as jobs go untended
  • Four unique puzzle biomes, each with new takes on classic mechanics

So Vidar is available now in gaming on Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Since the release is available on Steam and Humble Store. Steam has a 25% discount for a few more hours at $7.49 USD. Which definitely one of the more interesting releases for 2017. Check it out.

In gaming news, developer Dancing Dragon Games quietly announced the Linux and Mac #release for Echoes of Aetheria. Hence this #steampunk #RPG is now available fully cross-platform. Developed in RPG Maker and release more than a year ago. Where the gaming experience is but a humble beginning.

A wedding gets interrupted, a bride kidnapped while our heroes give chase. Since their motifs are different. These heroes quickly find themselves thrown together. So their simple quest to recover the bride soon spirals into a saga of war, love, and betrayal.

Hence no native release discount and the Humble Store does issue a Steam key. So it’s not exactly news that you will have Linux support registering that Steam key.

Looking for developers for open-source rpg game maker project

A few people from Germany had the idea one could create a free and
open-source program that allows users to create simple 2D RPG games by
just doing some point’n’click and more complex ones via some
intergrated scripting, resembling Enterbrain’s famous “RPG Maker”
series. We however want to make the program (as stated above)
open-source and free as in freedom and free beer, and better (of
course!). Currently we’re four more-or-less active coders and looking
for some more devs who want to work on the project as well. Note we’re
definitely *not* looking only for experienced programmers, but we
appreciate any newbies who want to dive into the deeper levels of Ruby
coding as well. You should, however, know basic Ruby programming, so
acting with “classes”, “methods”, “inheritance” and the like isn’t
completely new for you and of course you should be willing to learn
something new^^.

We currently have a project website at
https://devel.pegasus-alpha.eu/projects/openrubyrmk, but the project
sourcode is mirrored over to GitHub as well:

So, if some of you are interested in working on this, drop a private
mail to me (sutniuq AT gmx DÖT net) or join us at #OpenRubyRMK on
freenode.net (I’ll try to be permanently online the next few days, but
if I cannot you probably meet some other devs there). You can also
make a post in our shiny new forums at
https://devel.pegasus-alpha.eu/projects/openrubyrmk/boards (but you
have to register first before you can post).

Finally, please note that the OpenRubyRMK (that’s the name of the
project right now) is in a very, very young phase of development. We
more or less just finished brainstorming and started coding, but
wheather you look at this as an advantage or disadvantage is up to
you—it’s easy to bring in new ideas right now, but there isn’t much
code to work on right now (but hopefully soon!).
