Indie games studio Rival Games announced that Devil in the Detail, the third and #finalepisode in the first season of its dramatic #storydriven crime #adventure The Detail, is now available and nicely discounted on Steam for Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Mixing mature themes with a character driven narrative and a graphic novel inspired visual style, The Detail delivers an impact of experience that is shaped by the player’s choices as they dive deeper into the corruption that runs a modern American city.

“Our goal with The Detail was to deliver a truly sophisticated experience for players, and this last episode packs a real emotional punch,” said Jukka Laakso, Chief Eating Officer of Rival Games. “We’ve become very fond of our main protagonists – Reggie, Joe and Kate, and the team is curious to hear how our fans have experienced the finale now that the story has come to a close.”

The Detail Episode 3 – “Devil in the Detail” brings the modern noir story of detective Reggie Moore, informant Joe Miller and officer Katelyn Hayes to a dramatic finale. With the new major crimes unit operating at full force, Reggie stands to expose what is truly going on in the city, which also makes him a target. Joe is feeling the weight of his past on his shoulders, while Kate considers the human cost of police work. Can all of them survive what looms ahead?

The Detail is an adventure game that takes the player to the streets of a crime-ridden city and into the shoes of Reginald “Reggie” Moore, a veteran detective frustrated with the lack of justice, and Joseph “Joe” Miller, a former confidential informant dragged back into the life of crime he barely escaped. The player investigates criminal activity and scenes of murder, arresting suspects and interrogating them for information, all while trying to navigate the pitfalls of an underworld where every choice holds consequences. Inspired by classic adventure games from Westwood and LucasArts and series from Telltale Games, The Detail combines realistic crime drama themes, like The Wire, with a hand-drawn graphic novel art style.

“Devil in the Detail” is available now as a DLC purchase on Steam for Linux, Mac and Windows PC with a 25% discount for €4.49 / £3.60 / $4.49 or as part of a three-episode season bundle discounted at €9.99 / £6.99 / $9.99.

According to Rival Games, the story centers around a hard-nosed detective named Reggie Moore who has grown disillusioned with the bureaucratic system of justice, and a former police informant named Joseph Miller who is being dragged back into the life in order to clear the debt that looms over his past.

“The player will take control of each character in turn over the course of the game, using the personal characteristics of each to solve a series of crimes sweeping across a dark and embittered city. Our team of eleven developers is hard at work on the first episode at this moment, and is comprised of some of the best talent in Finland and from around the world, including professional writers and advisors ranging from the co-founder of Remedy Entertainment to a board member of the IGDA.”
