Hand of Fate 2 coming in Q1 2017 for Linux, Mac, PC and Xbox One

hand of fate 2 action rpg sequel coming in q1 2017 linux mac pc

Hand of Fate 2, the #sequel to #Defiant Development‘s hit title with more than 2 million downloads. Since this will deal owners into its dynamic action RPG gameplay in Q1 2017. While simultaneously #launching alongside the announced Linux, Mac, Windows PC and Xbox One releases.

Since similar to the original Hand of Fate, the sequel will require players to overcome trials built from collectible cards. Hence being distributed by the magical dealer in the meta-board game. Each hand will feature action-packed third-person combat, precarious exploration, high-risk high-reward minigames and Dungeons and Dragons-style decision making.

Hand of Fate 2: Announce Trailer

Hand of Fate 2 will introduce companions, who can provide support in combat. Hence exclusive options in the RPG portions and their own storylines. Among the supporting cast is Malaclypse, a crafty mage masquerading as a bard to dodge the Empire’s ban on magic. Malacylpse provides ranged attacks and shields in battle as well as rerolls during some board game sections.

Reaching a specific card won’t always lead to victory in Hand of Fate 2. Since it did in the original, players will have to accomplish specific feats. Such as conquering ten different hands laid out by the dealer or accumulating 200 gold. Combat-linked requirements will also diversify gameplay with objectives such as defending a lone goblin from an advancing army of soldiers for a specific period of time.

Hand of Fate 2 action RPG combat:

Hand of Fate 2 introduces two-handed weapons and dual-wielding, allowing expanded player choice in a refined combat system.

New enemy types, once again united under card suits, will also debut. The Steel suit will house the empire’s soldiers, while the Blight suit harbors corrupted, mutated men.

The dealer, Hand of Fate‘s magical antagonist, will make his return in the upcoming sequel despite being defeated in the first game. Set 100 years after the original game, the dealer will return to train our new heroine so she can defeat the original game’s protagonist, who now rules as a villainous tyrant.

“The community embraced Hand of Fate, downloading more than two million copies, so we are releasing Hand of Fate 2 across multiple platforms,” said Morgan Jaffit, director at Defiant Development. “With tighter combat, supporting companions and stacks of all-new cards, series fans and newcomers alike will find a compelling adventure in Hand of Fate 2.”

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime space shooter

lovers in a dangerous spacetime co-op space shooter linux mac windows pc

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a frantic 1- or 2-player couch #coop action #space shooter for Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Nominated for an award in Visual Art at the 2013 Independent Games Festival, and since then it looks like the game has gotten even bigger and brighter.

Explore a colorful galaxy in a massive neon battleship that you control together by manning turrets, lasers, shields and thrusters. Only through teamwork can you triumph over the evil forces of Anti-Love, rescue kidnapped space-bunnies, and avoid a vacuumy demise. Deep space is a dangerous place, but you don’t have to face it alone!

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime Features

  • CO-OP GAMEPLAY: 2 players (or 1 player plus a loyal AI space-pet) need to work together to man the different battle stations, dashing back and forth between weapons, shields and engines. Both players fill important roles at all times, and nobody gets left behind.
  • UPGRADEABLE SHIPS: Find and combine powerful space-gems to customize your ship’s load-out. Each gem gives provides different abilities, letting you learn the right tools for every situation.
  • SIMPLE CONTROLS, DEEP CHALLENGE: Controlling your spacenaut is so simple that anyone can jump in quickly, but getting both players to work together like a well-oiled machine, battling a galaxy of evil robots and constellations — that’s the tricky part.
  • A NEW EXPERIENCE EVERY TIME: Randomized level layouts mean that both players will be exploring fresh areas every time you play.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime started life at the Toronto Global Game Jam in January 2012. The idea came out of a discussion about Artemis, and thinking how cool it would be to make a game out of that frantic scene in Star Wars where Han and Luke are climbing ladders and shooting TIE fighters in the Falcon. After developing a prototype at the game jam, we’ve been working on the game since June 2012, but went into full-time production in January 2014. We also regularly show the game at events and festivals to get player feedback while we’re still in development. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is the second game from Asteroid Base, a team spawned in Toronto’s game jam scene comprised of Matt Hammill (creator of the award-winning Gesundheit! on iOS), illustrator Jamie Tucker, and programmer Adam Winkels, with music by Ryan Henwood.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is set to launch on September 9th on Linux, Mac and Windows PC through Steam and on Xbox One. Pre-orders are available now.

Autodesk is launching new game engine called Stingray for developers

Autodesk announced that its new Stingray game engine will be #available to game #developers worldwide beginning August 19, 2015. Later this summer, Autodesk will also offer Autodesk Maya LT Desktop #Subscription customers access to Autodesk Stingray as part of their subscription. A game engine that is lightweight and tightly integrated with the Autodesk tools set.

The game engine resulted from the Autodesk acquisition of Bitsquid last year. Now, it seems, Autodesk is able to offer game developers a comprehensive solution, one forged and fine-tuned to get the most from the company’s tools.

Built on the data-driven architecture of the Bitsquid engine, first announced in March, Stingray is a comprehensive new platform for making 3D games. The engine supports a host of industry-standard game development workflows and includes connectivity to Autodesk 3D animation software that simplifies game development across a wide range of platforms.

“Between augmented reality, virtual reality and the proliferation of mobile platforms, the games industry is undergoing a major transition, which poses new complexities for both AAA and indie game developers. Autodesk developed Stingray with these challenges in mind, and we’re excited to share its debut with the game developer community,” said Autodesk senior vice president, Media & Entertainment, Chris Bradshaw. “Stingray makes it easy and intuitive for artists with varying skill sets and programming expertise to create the next generation of 3D blockbuster games, entertainment and even architecture.”

Stingray features:

  • Seamless Art-to-Engine Workflow:  Import, create, iterate, test and review 3D assets and gameplay faster with a one-click workflow and live link between Stingray and Autodesk 3D animation software.
  • Modern Data-Driven Architecture: A lightweight code base gives game developers the freedom to make significant changes to the engine and renderer without requiring source code access.
  • Advanced Visuals and Rendering:  Produce visually stunning games with a powerful rendering pipeline, physically-based shading, advanced particle effects, post processed visual effects, lightmap baking and a high-performance reflection system.
  • Proven Creative Toolset: Stingray includes proven solutions like Beast, HumanIK, Navigation, Scaleform Studio (UI technology built on Scaleform), FBX, Audiokinetic Wwise and NVIDIA PhysX.
  • Versatile Game Logic Creation: Stingray includes a wide range of development tools making game creation more accessible for game makers with varying levels of experience – including visual node-based-scripting and Lua scripting. C++ source code will also be available as an additional purchase upon request.
  • Multiplatform Deployment and Testing:  Quickly make and apply changes to gameplay and visuals across supported platforms: Apple iOS, Google Android, Microsoft  Windows 7 and Windows 8, Oculus Rift DevKit 2, Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft XboxOne.

The Stingray engine can also be used in design environments and is an informative next step to further understand design data before anything is physically built. The engine’s real-time digital environment, on a powerful, data-driven architecture, is programmed to look and feel like the physical world. Through the high-end development tools and visual scripting system, customers can program objects, light effects, environmental elements, materials, and entourage elements to behave and react as they would in the physical world.

Connected to Autodesk 3ds Max, architecture, engineering and construction customers can import Autodesk Revit data into 3ds Max, add content to the 3ds Max scene and then place that scene in the Stingray engine to explore, animate, and interact in the designed space.

Autodesk Stingray runs on Windows and will be available via Autodesk Subscription starting August 19, 2015 for $30 per month. Later this summer, the company plans to offer Maya LT Desktop Subscription customers access to the engine as part of Maya LT.

Linux Game News reached out to Autodesk’s head of games Frank Delise regarding native support:

“Upon shipping, Xbox One, PS4, iOS, Android and Oculus platforms.
Editor is PC only on release, but we built in cross-platform, and more platforms are on the way.”

Autodesk has iterated its commitment to having its tools work smoothly on other game engines, including Epic’s Unreal Engine and the Unity engine.
